The Hero!, good person, cool and neat stuff, all around good stuff thread.

last I heard the blind (actually nearsighted) kid was/is friends with the "bully". they were messing around when the kid, who happened to be autistic, went off on the "friend". the "friend" fought back, obviously went too far. I'd like to think that it is BS.

mind you, I don't know where you guys have been in the last 20 years but the Zero Tolerance policy has been around for that long. the question is why haven't they revised the policy to make it less lame?

maybe I should have started a new thread, but this story revolved around the Good Samaritan who stepped in for the seemingly helpless blind kid. so, here resurrected this thread lies.

That is the school I work at. He was not on the football team this year to begin with and he was not suspended but due to legal reasons the district could not release that info till they got permission from his family. Hope that clears all that up and stops the bad mouthing of my school. The hell that my co-workers had to put with the last two days sucked. I hate today's media for jumping the gun beforing getting all the facts. You guys should have heard some of the phone calls or seen the emails that were pouring in from all over the world. Some really nasty and down right cruel.

Welcome to my world.............

Glad to hear that the guy who stepped in was not suspended.

But you can understand why it went viral. Because things things like that have been happening for years, "zero tolerance" is just ****ing lazy. Do your damn job and have a little backbone. "Zero tolerance" allows people to throw hands up And abdicate responsibility. I sort if get it actually, because dealing with a hole and loser parents sort of sucks but hey, that is your job.

It is the same **** as "minimum sentencing" and "three strikes your out": with that you get kids who get suspended for having Tylenol and guys getting a life sentence for shoplifting.

(Ok so the the Tylenol and the shoplifting thing may have changed by now but they did happen)

Anaheim Police Officer Being Praised For Going Beyond Call Of Duty

Let me add that Dave is a stand up dude that would do anything for anyone. I am proud to work alongside him and all my other brothers & sisters at APD. :popo:

These police stories happen all the time and should lead the news coverage every day, however the media would rather focus on an negative incident that a police officer might be involved with that happens one out of 10,000 calls that an officer will make. Well done Officer David Garcia!

BTW, it is amazing that we have people in this world today that would break into a car and steal seats or anything that belongs to another.

A little more...

It was well recognized that Martha Raye endured more discomfort than any other Vietnam entertainer.

I did not know this, I bet you didn't either. Don't let the sun go down
without reading this about Martha Raye.

The most unforgivable oversight of TV is that her shows were not taped.

I was unaware of her credentials or where she is buried.

Most of the old time entertainers were made of a lot sterner stuff than
today's crop of activist bland whiners.

The following is from an Army Aviator who takes a trip down memory lane:
"It was just before Thanksgiving '67 and we were ferrying dead and wounded from a large GRF west of Pleiku.

We had run out of body bags by noon, so the Hook (CH-47 CHINOOK) was
pretty rough in the back.

All of a sudden, we heard a 'take-charge' woman's voice in the rear.

There was the singer and actress, Martha Raye, with a Special Forces beret and jungle fatigues, with subdued markings, helping the wounded into the Chinook, and carrying the dead aboard. Maggie' had been visiting her Special Forces (SF) 'heroes' out 'west'.

We took off, short of fuel, and headed to the USAF hospital pad at Pleiku.

As we all started unloading our sad pax's, a USAF Captain said to
Martha.... "Ms Raye, with all these dead and wounded to process, there
would not be time for your show!"

To all of our surprise, she pulled on her right collar and said "Captain, see this eagle? I am a full 'Bird' in the US Army Reserve, and on this is a 'Caduceus' which means I am a Nurse, with a surgical specialty.... now, take me to your wounded!"

He said, "Yes ma'am.... follow me."

Several times at the Army Field Hospital in Pleiku, she would 'cover' a
surgical shift, giving a nurse a well-deserved break.
Martha is the only woman buried in the SF (Special Forces) cemetery at
Ft Bragg.
