Canadian town promises to serenade arrested drunk drivers with Nickelback on their way to the clink...

Let me start by stating: I am not a fan of Nickleback, don't own any of their music.

But what did they do to deserve all this? There are tons of crappy bands out there, what makes these guys get all the heat? Are they d-bags as well as being in a crappy band? Did they offend a bunch of folks somehow?

What gives?
 
It seems to be a rather amorphous "phenomenon," helped along by some of the band's own doings.
