The Mess in the West

These recent injuries were such a bummer. When we were firing on all cylinders we were as good as anyone. This last stretch against all these western conference playoff opponents would have been so much fun if we were healthy.

I just hope were healthy for the playoffs. We already know the seeding means nothing. Reminder that in 2012, our first round opponents were the President's Trophy winners.

If we are truly healthy, I don't care who the match up is. Some of these teams are extremally one line lopsided offensively. With a healthy Mikey and the excellent play of Gavrikov, our top four can shut lines down at will.

Still excited for the postseason, gingers crossed.

We've only had one bad game in this whole stretch. It's been frustrating to watch. But if at least Anderson and Fiala are able to get back on the ice, I think we can compete.

I know some are concerned about us falling to 7th, but playing Edmonton, Vegas or Colorado is all the same to me. I'm more concerned about losing out on home ice than the opponent.

It's no longer a mess in the West. The Kings are separating themselves from the rest of the pack...the wrong way.

Seattle ends with a home and away both against Vegas, is there a scenario where those two could draw each other in the 1st round and start a series after back to back regular season tilts?

Weird ending to the regular season. Meeting in the playoffs after that would be pretty wild.

So if the Kings and Kraken tie for points, who get's the edge?

Seattle. They would have the edge in wins, regulation wins, and ROW if both teams should win out. If the Kings beat the Ducks, then the Kraken would need 2 wins vs. Vegas. Kings road to 104 points looks a little easier, but anything can happen playing the Ducks.

Yes. Seattle beats Vegas twice in regulation and the Oilers win out. The OIlers would take the division, VGK would be second. Even if the Kings beat the Ducks on Thursday, they would be tied with Seattle with points, with Seattle having the tiebreaker (as noted above).

It’s pretty crazy that in the West not a single playoff spot is locked in by any team. At least for right now.

I would rather have the Kings stay away from Las Vegas or Edmonton at least for the first round. Let them take their chances with another opponent. If they can't beat that opponent, they won't beat either Las Vegas or Edmonton.

Last season it was Doughty and Arvidsson that were out for the playoffs. This season it is Fiala and Valardi. Who knew.

Do we know that??? Valardi was skating in practice yesterday.

Even after tonight it’s still undecided. Who has the tie breaker between Vegas and Edmonton?

Now the Kings can only be caught if they lose to Anaheim and Seattle beats Vegas in Seattle. To hold 3rd, 1 point is all they need... if they choose to take it. Edmonton or Colorado is a rough choice.

All I care is about I don't wanna play the Oilers.. not because I think they're a challenge - I just hate them.

Jacked this from the Insider message board.

Yeah, best Thursday outcome for us is:

Kings beat Ducks
Kraken beat Knights
Oilers beat Sharks

We keep third in the west, oilers win west and we get a beat-up Vegas team in first round. Oilers are just too hot right now, I'd rather get them in the next round after they are beat up a bit.

I know, I know, be careful what you wish for.

I'll be at the Ducks game doing my part. Will the other teams do theirs?

There’s also a possibility the Kings play Dallas in the first round (if Kings fall to WC). They don’t seem quite as potent offensively as EDM or COL.

EDM is hot but they are power play merchants.

If the refs tighten things up like they should that plays more into the Kings' hands, slightly.

That said, I'd rather play Vegas.
