The other teams thread

when he hit Hughes in another game what was the fine amount ?
That should’ve been a Double Minor. Easy call. It was missed by the every official on the ice.

The league just this season handed Morgan Reilly a 5 game suspension for a cross check to the head. Cross checks to the head receive stiffer penalties than high sticks. Soucy will sit a game for his cross check regardless of his intent and independent of any other missed penalties this series.

It’s just mind boggling because we’ve seen it for years the Oilers are not a good defensive team. They win because teams usually can’t match them in a track meet style wide open game.

However that style of game can just as easily burn them when their goaltending is weak. That’s what happened in game 1 vs. the Canucks. Oilers were comfortably winning the track meet up 4-1 then Draisaitl got hurt and Skinner stunk up the joint. The wheels fell off and they had no way of slowing down the Canucks attack.

Vancouver didn’t passively sit back clogging up the middle of the ice. They hounded the Oilers d-men and threw everything at Skinner and it worked.

Agreed. Also, the Canucks have some pretty imposing players on defense. The Oilers are being bullied a bit, and with Kane looking less-than-100%, there’s no one left to retaliate,

Soucy sits for Game 4.

I wouldn’t have minded seeing a few Kings sit a game or two for similar infractions. I realize it costs these guys a massive paycheck though, so it amounts to far more than just missing a game for them. doughty and kopitar have certainly made enough over their careers, and have been overpaid at that for the majority, so they could stand to take a few for the team though..

Nichushkin was placed in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and will be suspended for six months.
ANALYSIS
Nichushkin was in the program during the regular season, missing 22 games as a result. Now, he's in Stage 3 of the program and will need to apply for reinstatement after a six-month suspension

Wow, didn’t he disappear from the playoffs last season against the Kraken, from a similar issue(booze and random Russian woman)?

Soucy sits for Game 4.

NHL DOPS continues to make zero sense. Ryan spears Hoglander in the privates = nothing, Hyman high sticks Zadorov after McDavid hit and cuts him = nothing. McDavid draws blood on Hughes = no call. McDavid slashes Soucy on the outside of the knee to start everything = no call. Since when did the NHL turn into the NBA with special rules for the stars?

When you mix the top player in the league plus head shots it’s a guaranteed suspension. Every professional league bends over backwards to protect their biggest stars. There’s too much money on the line. Like Jack Hughes said “people pay to see (him) play.”

If Soucy hits him with that same cross check in the chest like he intended it’s a slap on the wrist $5K fine.

Well, you know something's wrong when George Parros is the current head of the NHL DoPS. Because of him, the DoPS has been notoriously inconsistent with the way they regulate player safety. I hated him when he was a Duck and I hate him even more now as the current headmaster of the DoPS. Bettman seems to be falling in love lately with former enforcers taking the job as head disciplinarian of the NHL DoPS. That Tom Wilson/Pavel Buchnevich debacle back three years ago is something that Parros will never shake off as it will forever be a black mark in his history as DoPS headmaster.

And Deadmonton can eat horse dung with their getting away with their crimes and let Vancouver get the worst of it.

How they found Robertson and Johnston in the 2nd round while the Kings grab guys like Jared Anderson-Dolan and Helge Grans says a lot about why Dallas will be in the Conference Final and LA was sent home after winning 1 game.
Point taken, but Johnston was taken 23rd overall. Stankoven was the 2nd rounder that same year. Maybe you confused the two draft positions. Both playing great for them though.

Definitely confused the two. And then I remembered Blake took Bjornfot 22nd overall 😵‍💫. Different draft year than Johnston but the fact is impact players will be selected at the end of the 1st round and in the 2nd round. It happens every year.

Anything after the 2nd is much more of a crap shoot.

This is why we need to stop trading away our 1st and 2nd round picks year after year. They won't always work out, but every now and then the team will get a gem like Johnston. Zellweger is another good example which the Ducks picked up in the 2nd round that draft.

So how many breakaways are the nuckleheads going to give up on the PP before Tocchet realizes he needs to do something different? Really different.
