The other teams thread

I know Heiskanen puts up a ton of points but I do not like his game at all. I mean sure if he were playing 2nd pairing minutes I’d love to have him on the Kings but he’s playing #1 minutes and his defense is about as good as Erik Karlsson. Ugly stuff.
He was far from the worst Stars D last night. He just gets the most minutes. The first 2 goals were Suter. Goal 1 he runs over Otter. Goal 2 he gets stuck in no man's land and leaves a guy uncovered. Goal 3 was Harley. He played the passer and not the shooter on a 2 on 1. How the heck does a guy at the NHL level not know to let the goalie take the shooter while you take away the pass on a 2 on 1? I forget goal 4 and wasn't paying much attention for the ENG.

Miro is better than you are giving him credit for. Also, the Stars D kind of sucks. If Tanev is actually hurt they are in HUGE trouble. They were running 5 D against Colorado for multiple games which tells me everything I need to know about the drop off from the top 4-5 guys (including Suter) and the next 3 or 4 in the org. It was game 6 at Colorado when they finally started rolling 6 when Petrovic went in for Lundkvist. I don't know how you replace Tanev's minutes with Lundkvist who regularly got <5 minutes against the Avs. The big 4 were already playing lots of minutes; how do you spread 25 minutes between Lundkvist who was getting 5, Petrovic who hadn't played in the NHL in 5 years, and Suter who looks washed up?

Don’t want to sweat it out seeing EDM make the finals, BUT that would be the best case scenario for them to lose in the Cup round. Tkachuk and Bennett would really give all of Edmonton something to cry about, and every Spector article/tweet/sneeze immediately afterwards would be a work of art.

Heiskanen played much better against Vegas and Colorado. It could be that Edmonton is just a bad matchup for his style of game. I’m just not a fan of the way he plays defense. He struggles to stay in front of forwards with speed. He struggles to win puck and positional battles against bigger forwards.

When the puck is on his stick he’s undeniably great but when you’re asking him to play 25 minutes against McDavid and Draisaitl he’s not going to have the puck on his stick much.

Dallas has two other very good d men in Harley and Lindell. Harley might be the best of the bunch. When I watch Harley I see a young dman still developing. Very productive but some obvious rough edges that should smooth out over time. Whereas Heiskanen is already an extremely polished finished product. Both special talents. I just like Harley a bit more. And Lindell is an excellent #3. If Tanev misses time Dallas is in real trouble.

Watching the Rangers vs Panthers just shows how far the Kings are away from winning anything. Even their skill players are not afraid to play physical. Nothing against the Kings, however they are just miles away. I am hoping for the next five years they are able to draft in the top 10 and hopefully get a few players that can play soon. Next season they need to steal some players at the trade deadline. We've waited 10 years what's another five.

Especially after waiting 45 years for the first cup. :)

I genuinely believe the Stars are worse than the Kings on the Power Play. They absolutely refuse to shoot it on net. It’s incredible to watch. They just don’t really shoot in general. 4 SOG in the period of a must win game.

I mentioned this last game, the Stars are playing like the Kings of December. Trying risky passes, trying to make perfect pass and ignoring the simple plays. Causing turn over after turn over. Good luck Dallas if you keep this up.

That type of play started the Kings downward spiral.

And Oettinger just hasn’t been good enough. Stars had Game 1 and blew it. And they had a 2-0 lead in Game 4 then they blew it. The Oilers have scored every big goal and Skinner has made the big save time and time again since his stinker in Game 3.

True, Oettinger has been kind of hot and cold in the playoffs. All year, I think.

It's impossible not to think of the Kings/Oilers two years ago watching this series:

The Kings were up two games to one, leading 3-0 in Game Four, then blow it and lose 5-4 in OT. Oilers take the series in six games.

The Stars were up two games to one, leading 2-0 in Game Four, then blow it and lose 5-2.

I guess it's Oilers in six, again.

3 nothing for Oilers.

I'm not prepared for this summer. Guess I'm going into exile!

Kings and Oilers were separated by one game three years ago and then two and this year three games. So the Oilers got better and the Kings... So instead of adding the right pieces that Edmonton did, the Kings added, a big strapping body.

10 sogs through 2 periods. I only recall that one sustained offensive shift in the 2nd. Thought DAL would at least bother to show up.I mean game 5 wcf..not the dog days of December.

3-0. That’s game and the series. It’s done. Oilers are going to the Finals. Damn it.
Unfortunately, it's looking that way.

Sucks elephant balls.

Oh well, hopefully the Rangers or Panthers smoke the scumbags. I think Bobrovsky and Shesterkin are both superior to Skinner, so I think they beat Edmonton, and I expect the series to go seven games.

As for the NY/Florida series, because of my New York roots, I was initially going with the Rangers, but I find myself gravitating towards Florida at ths point.

As long as The Scum don't win it all, I'm good with either team from the East.

I can't believe it. A potential final with the Oilers is upon us.
LOL!

I love Frank Grimes, possibly my all-time favorite Simpsons character.

Yeah, well, Edmonton in the Finals was pretty much a given...I thought the Stars might steal this...but now it appears it's up to NY or FLA to Stop the Scum.

One thing for sure:

Rangers or Panthers are gonna give the Oil a real test.
