The Pacific Division Thread

So much for the Ducks having a cake walk over the depleted Blues team,as the Ducks are losing to the Blues 4-0
With 1:30 left in the third period 😂🎉🥅🙄
And the final is Blues 4-Ducks 0.The Oilers are ahead of Vegas 3-1 with 5:56 left in the third period

The Pacific is wide open, but the issue is that the Kings shooting and of course it goes all wide...

By "is wide open" I assume you mean "is terrible". I don't think any Pacific teams would be in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference....would they?

That's more or less what I mean. A golden opportunity season...wasted.

With the Sharks breaking the Bruins 13 game home winning streak with a 4-2 win, they are now sitting in the WC2 spot:

Sharks won. Knights won. Oilers lost. Kraken lost. Kings need 5 points out of the next 3 road games to keep their hopes alive. I think they can get past Seattle. The Sharks are more likely to be the problem.

Mildly surprised Vegas won. They have now beaten 2, maybe 3 teams currently in the playoffs teams since Nov. 20.

The playoffs start tonight for the Kings.

Vegas just hangs around until playoff time and then makes a run.

I like that the Kings started their playoffs early this year. Makes things more interesting that they have to win all these games. What team would want to clinch a playoff spot this early in the season. I would rather wait until the last game of the season.

I’d say that for EDM. VGK is a typically a good regular season team. Won the division 4 times. What run did they go on since they won the Cup?

Although making it to the second round would be a run indeed for the Kings. Luc and company would sell special tshirts celebrating it.

Ah yes, I can see the Cinderella 2012 parallels now.((((((dreamlike haze)))))))))) Sutter is Smith, Brown is Kopitar and who is that late season pick up of a thirty-four year old winger? Right the Breadman is Simon Gagne.

That last one kind of tracks. Simón (pronounced see-MOHN),slang, it is also used as an informal, enthusiastic synonym for "yes"

For the first time in a long time the Kings are on the WC2 spot with 69 points. They are also 4 points out of third place and only 7 points out of first place in the Pacific Division

Nice that we got some games in hand on teams ahead of us too. But SJ has 2 GIH on us 😬 and somehow has 4(!) on Edmonton this late in the season.

Guess this opens the slot for John Carlson on the Ducks blue line. Gudas has always had a strong criminal streak.

That was a vicious hit by Gudas on Matthew’s,and a 5 game suspension is not enough in my opinion.Gudas should be suspended for at least the rest of the season and maybe send a message to the players that any type of vicious hit like that consequences will be forthcoming

Agreed, at this point Gudas should be suspended for at least the remainder of the season. Personally, I would suspend him for 82 games as a repeat offender who had put several players careers at risk.

At what point does the NHL start actually protecting its star players?

That was quite the shift for Gudas, altogether, as it looked like he boarded the daylights out of Cowan just 5 seconds prior to kneeing Matthews. I know it sounds ‘old school’ or ‘barbaric’, but with the very lax punishment the league hands out for these types of hits, I’d say the only way to mitigate future occurrences is by someone on the Leafs taking a very nasty run at a guy like Leo Carlsson or Sennecke, that has similar devastating effect. ‘Peer pressure’ from one’s own teammates is probably a far better motivator for cleaning up one’s act than a paltry 5 game suspension from the league.

Gudas receiving only a 5-game suspension should tell us all we need to know about the current state of the NHL DoPS under Parros. How he's still head of that organization is something only Bettman will answer.

With the Sharks and the Kraken winning today 3/14/26,the Kings are now on the outside looking at the WC2 spot. The Kings are still 4 points out of 3rd place and 7 points out of 1st place in the Pacific Division.
