The Pacific Division Thread

With the Kings biggest weakness being 3v3 and shootouts, I think they project to be a much better playoff team than most are projecting.
I am hoping they take minimum 3 games to OT just to be on brand. But yes, they are better than what is projected. Of course what is projected is quite low!
Presidents Cup winners have seen some disappointments in the first round, and Vancouver in ‘12 comes to mind
FL over BOS 3 yrs ago was equally impressive. Of course more often than not 8th place teams lose. But, 8th place teams don’t have anything to hold back. Just grateful Hiller’s not here.

Now that the Kings regular painful season has finally ended with Kings in the WC2 and they get the Avs in the 1st round, how many games will the Kings win vs the Avs?.

Here is the final regular season/playoff standings:

I think the past couple years have shown that the Kings are not on the same level as the Avs. They have been the better team.

The Kings are not the same team right now as they were two months ago or two years ago.
I was thinking I would feel better about the Kings chances if they had Fiala, Danault, Perry and Kuzy in the lineup. Imagine them with Panarin & Laughton?

This team was supposedly built for the playoffs. We have two defensemen brought in for the playoffs.

I like this team better now than at and point in this season. The Kings are scoring, they are playing like it means something to them (a welcome change to be sure).
The Kings have a couple areas of real concern, PK and in goal. Special Teams has to be pretty even and at least one of these guys needs to play solid in net.
But the Avs are really good. They are serious cup contenders. Not that they don’t have concerns. Makar injured recently although expected to be ready for Game 1, and their goalie position is not exactly rock solid.

Kings have a chance of course. But in my mind I think a Avs sweep of LA is more likely than a Kings series win.
