One of my all time faves.

Any other Dunkel fans?

Man I wish we had BevMo in Seattle! Of course beer is such a huge thing up here I just need to hit Whole Foods or Trader Joes more often.

And Vendome Liquor in Glendale (on Glen Oaks) was the liquor store I grew up going to (after 21 of course). Great freaking collection there.

Funny you mention that Beerman, I had a problem there last time I went in to the Ventura Blvd. location. Not so much of a problem but a let-down. I was going in to get a couple bottles of Moylans Kilt Lifter but they didn't have any. In fact, they didn't have anything from Moylans. The stock guy told me he hadn't ordered any because Moylans was a slow-mover. I kinda made up my mind that I'd just keep going back to the Toluca Lake location since their craft beer selection is much bigger and well stocked than the Ventura one.

I don't know what it is, but when I walk into the Toluca Lake Vendome, I get the comfortable feeling of, "Ah, I'm home!" I'm not one to ask a whole lot of the staff there but everytime I've talked with them they'd been very nice and helpful. One clerk there is a Bruins fan as it turns out and jokingly asked that I remove my Kings hat!

Overall, the Toluca Lake location has a better selection of beers, and cigars/lighters/humidors/accessories for that matter. If they'd let me I'd set up a cot in their humidor and live there.

That's a damn good beer. I first had it at Oktoberfest in Big Bear last year.

Drank one of these for the first time in while the other night:

I had a bottle of the Chimay Blue last weekend. As with cigars, beers either hit or miss with me and the Chimay was a miss. I can't really explain why, but it just didn't hit my "sweet spot" for lack of a better term. It was a good beer, I can appreciate why some love it, but it just didn't fit my bill (neither taste or cost).

Just went to Vendome today and bought a sixer of Spaten. I did see SA White there and was tempted to buy that. Next time. Aside from Oktoberfest, the White is the only Sam I enjoy.

Had the Sam Adams White at the watch party Sunday in Long Beach. It was surprisingly good, so I had a couple more. :)

.

I'm with you on this. I had some at a restaurant on Saturday night, and was not impressed at all. It didn't help that I had been to the Back Abbey in Claremont a few hours earlier, which has such a great selection of Belgian beers. Chimay paled in comparison.

All 3 Chimay beers are orgasmic in my humble opinion. The finest of the fine !!!

Well I had the Chimay Blue with dinner, and was felt it was very ordinary at best. Maybe it was a bad bottle, but it wasn't a beer that excited me in the least. Maybe the fact that I had enjoyed a glass of the St Bernardus ABT12 an hour earlier may have influenced my opinion. Now the ABT 12 was excellent.

Well I tried a Spaten last night. I poured it into a glass and thought to myself, "Who the hell put Budweiser in this Spaten bottle?" It was okay but it reminded me of something a poster said here, and I paraphrase, "Fizzy gold beers suck."

Being of some German descent, I was a bit embarrassed at the light, golden, fizzy liquid that looked lighter in color than apple juice. It tasted too similar to any domestic lager. It's the kind of beer I would have no qualms giving to a girl who wants a beer and can't handle an ale.

Well, at least Hofbrau was a winner.

This one was really good. Nice cloudy caramel color, not overwhelming by any sense of the imagination. Subtle, delicious, and nice. Could drink 2 or 10 of these. Tasted like bananas.
