Cheers fellow Firestone connoisseur :)

I live about a half hour from the brewery in Buelton. If you are passing through the area let me know and we can meet up for a pint or two. The unfiltered DBA puts the stuff you buy in the store to shame.

Will do ! That would be fun.

I am hoping that sometime in the near future I'll be able to get a couple of buddies in on a road trip to hit up the following:

Anchor
Rogue (brewpub in nor cal)
Sierra Nevada
Russian River
Firestone
Hair of the Dog

And many others, but Russian River and Sierra Nevada are the biggies on my list :)

By the way, how is the new Union Jack from Firestone? I have had no luck getting it down here.

I haven't tried it. When I do I'll let you know.

I actually don't get to the brewery very often (I'd like to stay married ha ha ha) so I when I do I usually go with the unfiltered since I can't get it anywhere else and it's my favorite......

Add Lagunitas to your list. They are not too far from Russian River Brewing. Check their website as the tasting hours are limited. Cool little tasting room.

Ah, yes.... thanks for the heads up there !

I finally checked out Hollingsheads on Fridee night. Pretty cool place, except the large crowd and hearing Ducks fans yelling "kick his ass Parros" !!! The employees there were most helpful and courteous.

I loaded up with a lot of good German brews. What I especially dig about the place is that you can pick out a single bottle from any 6 pack to buy individually. I don't even wanna know how much money I have blown in the past on lousy 6 packs, just because that is the only way a brew would come (as opposed to on draft or in a bomber).

I also managed to get my hands on a bottle of the newly released Angel's Share (Bourbon Barrel) from The Lost Abbey. Cant wait to put that one down :)

If I get some time once I arrive home from work, I'll make a list of everything that is in my fridge right now. A great assortment and variety of tasty brews :)

Since we retuned just yesterday from nine wonderful days on the Big Island of Hawaii, I will pay homage to a local brew that we enjoyed a lot!

Just a heads up-

Islands (well at least the Montclair location) is now serving the Kona Pipeline Porter. Haven't had it yet, but its got a B+ overall on beeradvocate.com.

That would probably wash down the teriyaki chicken tacos quite well, or accompany their tasty onion rings :)

Monday night I went with Moylans "Ryan Sullivans Imperial Stout".

Go ahead and pass on this one, folks. Very uninspiring and bland. It wasn't undrinkable by any means or thrown off by anything in particular, just quite basic and far too subtle. I was hoping for some complexity, but there was none to be found.

By the way, the so called hop shortage hasn't affected the San Dimas Ranch Market. 10 bucks even, out the door with a 6 pack of Stone Ruination.

It's time to see Az grow up before our eyes. The days of Coors light are long behind him and he is now the Microbrew king!

Last night I had The Angel's Share from the Lost Abbey.

Absolutely outstanding and one of a kind ! A spectacular barleywine that is pretty easy to put down, and well too easy for that matter at 12% ABV. Well worth the $15 / 12 oz bottle.

leading him down the right path to, well, righteousness didn't take too much effort. most of you know what I'm talking about. good job, fellas!

I finally got my hands on Union Jack from Firestone. One of the best IPAs out there ! Don't pass this one up if you see it in stores. It is a very earthly one, and safe to say it would make my top 5 IPA list. It really reminds me of Hair of the Dog's "Blue Dot" Double IPA.

Here is what we consumed thus far over the weekend. Included, is text copy/pasted from my personal online blog.

Boston Beer Company

LongShot Grape Pale Ale (3.75 / 5.0) *Not too shabby, refreshing most of all.

De Struise Brouwers

Pannepot - Old Fisherman?s Ale (4.0 / 5.0)*Pretty good Quad !

HaandBryggeriet

HaandBryggeriet Dark Force (4.25 / 5.0) * The most obscure beer I have ever tasted but in a very good way. Tastes like an Imperial Stout, but goes down with no syrup-like typical imperial stout characteristics. Imperial Stout for sure, but at the same time you're throwing down a smoothe wheat ale. Just strange but a good strange.

Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg

Hefe Weissbier Hell (3.75 / 5.0) *Somewhat let down.... Definitely prefer the Paulaner and Franziskaner hefs to this one.

Kloster Winter-Traum (4.0 / 5.0)* Awesome brew.

Weltenburger Kloster Asam-Bock (4.25 / 5.0)* FANTASTIC Dopplebock. A must have.

Three Floyds Brewing Co. / Brewery & Pub

Robert The Bruce Scottish Ale (3.75 / 5.0) *This stuff was damn near horrendous for its style, avoid!!!

Widmer Brothers Brewing Company

W?07 Pale Ale (4.0 / 5.0) * Surprisingly this was very good, considering it was from Pissmer.

Victory "Twelve" and Horny Devil Ale are both terrific. HD has lots of coriander and other spices, while "Twelve" is just a lovely, rich brew.

Had a Anderson Valley 20th Anniversary IPA last night. Was pretty good. Refreshing for an IPA. Clocks in at 8.7%. I also had a Firestone Union Jack. That had some serious bite to it. Strong taste of alcohol. Very bitter. Not something I would want to drink more than one of in a sitting. Wrecks your taste buds for anything that comes after it.

I still need to get around to the Anderson Valley 20th Anniversary. Their Hop Ottin IPA is by far one of my favorite IPAs, so I am sure the 20th will be in fashion as well.

The Union Jack is absolutely killer ! I had no problem putting 3 down in a sitting, but definitely wouldn't go past that.

I just picked up Serpents Stout from The Lost Abbey. I will report back on that once I've tried it.
