I was disappointed with the Springboard.
The Springboard is a very very different beer. Most people don't like Belgian white Ales. I like that it's so different.

This beer is best drank ice cold on a very hot day

I definitely love witbiers. Blanche De Chambly and the Sam Adams White Ale are two of my favorites in that style. There was just something about the Springboard that didn't sit too well with me. Seemed a little weak and light for the style.

I really like the Sam Adams White Ale. That is my everyday come home from work beer right now.

I tried the Springboard again, and I agree with KJ. This is a refreshing ale with a lighter taste. As KJ said, this would be great & the end of a hot day.

Did anybody hit up the Port Brewing 2nd Anniversary Party?

I was unable to attend, but sent some money along with a buddy of mine that went. On Friday we'll be meeting up and I'll get my Cuvee De Tomme, Inferno, and 2nd Anniversary Double IPA from him.

Some new ones I tried over the weekend:

Weyerbacher - Heresy

This was an outstanding Russian Imperial Stout. Probably would make my top 5 of the style.

The Lost Abbey - Devotion Ale

Pretty damn smooth and good overall, but maybe not worth it again considering the price I paid.

Victory - Hop Wallop

One of the absolute best Double IPAs out there.

Lagunitas - Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale

Finally something from Lagunitas that I really liked ! A pretty mild Double IPA and heavy on the malt. And for $3.50 you simply cannot beat that !

Here are a few goodies that I picked up on Fridee:

Southern Tier - Unearthly Imperial IPA
Founders - Devil Dancer
Allagash - Black
Allagash - Victor Ale
Dogfish Head - Burton Baton

Also, this year's batch of Sierra Nevada Summerfest is just wonderful. A bit more balanced than last year's and very easy to put down. I'll definitely be grabbing some more of this and its wonderful for the hot weather :)

Glad you liked it.

This is my new favorite beer. I highly recommend it

Here's a pretty good review of this beer
The aroma was full of grainy malt characters. Not as sweet as I have seen in others, but it had a nice citric hop presence as well. Some nice grassy tones as well. The flavor followed perfectly, really making this quite the hoppy little red ale. The first notes of grains coming through very clearly, but then melding seamlessly with a strong citrus and pine like hoppy punch. Some light notes of caramel coming through now and blending it all together. The finish is strong, nice and drawn out with a good amount of hoppiness and bitter flavors riddled throughout. Nice light bodied ale that stayed very well carbonated and had an excellent dry finish to it.

Overall this was a very quality session ale. It took the amber ale theme and hopped it up a little but overall stayed pretty true to its form. Could have had at least three of these without issue. Definitely a must try here

Visited Alaskan Brewing Company last Monday in Juneau and loved it. They let you drink as much as you want. Tried all the regular brews and a couple of small craft brews. First was a Jalapeno IPA. Was hoppy with just a slight bite. Was brewed for Cinco De Mayo. The other craft brew was a coffee brown ale. By far the best brown ale ever. Everyone there that tried it agreed.

On another note have to agree with KJ and psychopuck on Springboard. Nice light tasting beer. Last night, after getting back from vacation it was the perfect beer to wind down to.

Ok, so I broke down and bought this beer because my wife wanted to try it:

It is ok but I really like a good English Lager and Lime better. My wife liked the Chill a lot.

You lucky guy! Are you going to post any pictures? Did you bring any beer back with you?

I really want to try their barleywine which seems to be impossible to get down here. A jalapeno IPA? Interesting.

I had the name of the local Alaskan sales rep (for LB) a while back. I will see if I can find it. He was always my source to get Alaskan Brewing stuff in SoCal. Now that they have gone national you can pretty much get their stuff in any store. Although I am spoiled being up in Seattle I can get all their stuff. The Summer Ale is out now - mmm!

I had one of the best beers ever on Fridee evening, which was the Choklat (Imperial Stout) from Southern Tier. Go out of your way to find this one and I assure all of you that it is worth the heavy price. This one is thick and chewy with a perfect balance of belgian bittersweet chocolate and slight hop bitterness with a hint of alcohol in the finish.

What I loved was that after 3 rinses of my pint glass, it still smelled like heavy chocolate. This one is too easy to put down in the sense that it's 11% ABV, but it is so damn heavy and chewy I really don't know if I could finish more than one 22 oz bottle in a sitting.

We also sampled Dogfish Head Golden Era Imperial Pilsener which is in my opinion how a standard pilsener should be. If single bottles of this stuff weren't so damn pricey I would definitely drink more of it. It wasn't quite as bitter as the Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsener, but very well balanced and done perfectly.

Insanity from Weyerbacher was also sampled on Friday, but it was a bit of a letdown. Waaaayyy to much of a hard liquor influence (I believe it was aged in bourbon barrels). We had both the 2008 and 2005 versions. Don't go out of your way for this one.

The new double stout from Greenflash is exceptional. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be grabbing some more of it in the near future. I highly recommend it to all of you here.

Last but not least was the new Inferno from The Lost Abbey. It was a good beer, but nothing more, nothing less than that. When it comes to Belgian Ales, I tend not to prefer the Belgian pales, but rather Belgian strong dark ales, tripels, etc... Still worth it though to check out.

Henry and I had a chance to pick this up in Kernville last week.

this bock isn't so bad at all. smooth and heavy with a good finish.

then we stopped by the Indian Wells Brewing Company today. not knowing all their beers, I asked about their IPA. it is more aptly named Desert Pale Ale and is a pretty hoppy brew. (edit: I had my growler filled with that stuff to take home!)

if you can find either somewhere (BevMo?), pick it up.

or make a trip.

We tried a crapload of new ones at the Stone Brewery at the San Diego Storm on Saturday. The Victory Storm King is very good and one of the best RIS that I have had. Brought back a growler of the oaked AB hassle free this time :)
