That's good to know KJ, as I was considering picking up a 6'er to give it a second chance.

I picked up the Midas Touch a couple weeks ago and will report back once I try it. I also have the DFH "Aprihop" which should be interesting, as well as their "Raison D'extra". I had their "Burton Baton" not too long ago and was pretty impressed. That was a barrel aged Imperial IPA if I recall. Their "Olde School" barleywine was a bit of a letdown, but their "90 Minute IPA" is among the best out there, while their "60 Minute IPA" is pretty solid too.

Just remember the Midas touch is an ancient style beer before it was discovered that adding hops to beer added flavor, etc.

It's going to be very different from any beer you have ever tried
 
I will also say that Sam Adams Summer Ale sucks donkey balls this year. I bought a sixer, and the woman at the counter said "you know, it's only a few dollars more for a 12 pack". I had an already large assortment, and just wanted the six. I'm glad I saved the few bucks - because It's going to be slim pickens before I go back to the remaining few bottles. Here's hoping that some people I don't like come for a visit this summer.

On the other hand, my wife wanted a light beer for summer, and I see that Belgium's Skinny Dip qualified quite well. I snuck one the other day, and wow I was pleasantly surprised the taste of this so-called light beer. It wasn't spectacular, but it was very refreshing and impressed me a lot.
 
I guess I'm the only that liked Sam Adam's Summer Ale. Not my beer of choice, but drinkable. Usually, I don't like their Summer Ale due to too much of a lemony taste. It was more subtle this time around.
 
I personally cannot stand Sam Adams. The only one I sorta liked was the black one. There are just too many other great beers available everywhere now. SA used to be a good choice when the selection was poor. Now it just tastes syrupy to me.
 
I wonder what's up with SA nowadays? they used to be the beer of preference.

I second AB's take on their Black Lager. that beer is something.

I think the people at SA are trying too hard.

I agree with AB$ that the industry passed them up. I was at the Yardhouse last week and the other Black Lager on the menu(forgot the brewery) is better than Sam Adams
 
I really like the SA Winter Lager and Boston Lager. The rest are ok, better than BMC and a good choice to go with if you're ever stuck having to go to Chili's, Applebee's, etc...
 
I thoroughly enjoyed their White Ale this year, which I think might be a reason for my strong disappointment for their Summer Ale. I've always been a fan of their seasonals.
 
Kostritzer Black Lager

Blows away Sam Adams Black Lager. They have it on tap on The Yardhouse.
 
Wow, just tried Dog Fish HEad Palo Santo Marron and I was glad I spent the $12.99 for the 4 pack. Incredible. From their site
"Palo Santo Marron (Holy Tree Brown)

An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented brown ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. The caramel and vanilla complexity unique to this beer comes from the exotic Paraguayan Palo Santo wood from which these tanks were crafted. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and it's wood has been used in South American wine-making communities.

This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the Palo Santo wood. It was a huge hit at our Rehoboth Beach brewpub when first released in November of 2006, so it's coming back... into full production!

At 10,000 gallons each, these are the largest wooden brewing vessels built in America since before Prohibition."


The caramel taste is great!
 
I had Smithwick's for the first time ever and I REALLY liked it.....this coming from a dude who likes to put lemons in his Hefe....(AB, I know what you are saying!!). I am more of a light beer drinker but i really enjoy Bass or Harp when I am at a pub. I know it's not like anything you guy (and girls) like to drink on here.....as much as i like beer i am a pretty simple guy. I just say this one last thing....for whatever friggin reason, I love SOL!!! (take that AB!!)..

im doing somewhat better....i had another MRI done and i meet with the doctor tomorrow...thanks for asking...
I am taking it slow but i have to get back to work ASAP....all i know is...i am taking better care of myself....in terms of nutrition and streching before and after working out...
I will be doing some curls at the draft party on friday...YES!! bud light!!!
 
I had AleSmith's "Horny Devil" last night. Simply amazing and worth the $10. They put the coriander to great use in this one. Very well balanced and extremely complex overall. Try it !!!
