the IPA worth having again. and again.

at least it is for me. not harsh, nice maltiness, very smooth. this beer surprised me more than others.
 
yeah, I just don't get how it is the "world's best" beer. maybe the world's hardest to get beer, but the best? nahhh.

anyhow, if any of you ever win the lottery to buy a pack, you damn well better invite me over for a tasting.

I'd say hit the VE's first since those are the ones you really want to focus on first. No sense destroying your palette before you can get to the beers you really want to focus on. After the VE's are done, then hit up whatever you think would be good.

I may have posted this pic in this thread before. This is what we blew through at a tasting I hosted. By the final third our palettes were done and we were pretty sloppy.

FW Parabola is some pretty good stuff. Especially when the bottle is over a year and a half old.
 
I'm sure that Hangar 24 has been discussed at some point in this huge thread. My wife and I have friends who lived literally down the street from Hangar. So I've been enjoying their stuff for years. I asked my buddy to pick me up two bottles of this beauty. Pugachev's Cobra. I haven't had this one yet. I've had last years version. And light beer drinkers need not apply. Jubelale is solid. I really like that one. Nice and malty without being too much makes it easy to drink a whole six pack. I had a bottle of Stone Enjoy by and a couple pours of the VE 12/12/12 last night. Both solid.
 
4 pm today we're heading down to one of the local wine places for a Winter Warmer beer event. On tap: Anchor Christmas Ale 2012, Port Brewing Santa's Little Helper,
Deschutes Brewing Jubelale - and I'm hoping they have some Victory at Sea left over from the last event. I've had 'em all and the Santa's Little Helper is genius this year. We have a place selling it for $4.99 a bottle here in SLO so we're buying it by the case. I hope they don't run out soon. Eureka Burger has it for $26 a bottle - idiotic. I love that they get good beer - I HATE that they completely overprice it.

Anyway, point being - I highly recommend the Port Brewing Santa's Little Helper. It's incredibly delicious.

So far all I have had is the green label. If I could find the red label, the bourbon barrel aged version, I'd buy everything I could. I can only imagine I'd love the bourbon barrel aged stuff even more as I'm a big Firestone Xn and Parabola fan (lucky living where I live). The version we had on draft this afternoon was the green label. But we complemented that with a nice Delirium Noel afterwards. Fun stuff man. Fun stuff.
