I know Stormy does. Hopefully you get that kit as the usual one people gift (the plastic beer keg kit that you can buy anywhere) seems lame. This one at least seems like you can actually get good results from that equipment.
Lots of people ask me why I don't homebrew. For me, aside from the science aspect of it which can be off-putting, I don't see a real goal in it (personally speaking). The market is flooded with tons and tons of homebrewers so the odds of turning pro and starting your own brewery is slim (not to mention the start-up capital that would require) and while I see the satisfaction of brewing and drinking your own creation, there's a huge river of great brews out there for me to try that I don't really feel a need to brew my own. I can save the effort and go buy a 4-pack of GF double stout. If I get a wild hair up my butt and want to create something, I have much stronger leanings toward cooking. To each their own. If you do receive a kit I hope you enjoy the hobby!

I've had the 12/12/12 a couple of times since it came out. It pretty much defines "seasonal beer" to me. So much going on there.

This was my Vertical Epic tasting on 12/15/12. We got through two no VE beers to start and continued with the 03, 05-12, ahd the Anchor Steam Christmas Ale and finished the Double Arrogant Bastard. The coolest thing happened though. The Stone Company Store in Pasadena had the 06 that I needed, and it was only $13. Too cool eh?
We had a great time and almost everyone crashed out at our pad that night.

That's a solid starter kit, similar to the first kit I used way back in 1983. You can find all sorts of great resources online for homebrewing. The thing I most like about brewing now is that I've gotten my sons to help me out so it's a great way to get a 2-3 hour chunk of time with my teenaged boys. Other than that, my need to homebrew is much lower than it's ever been. I started way back when b/c there was so little good beer to be had. Then the first craft brewing movement came along in the late 80's/early 90's and that slowed me down. And now that we've struck gold, as far as beer lovers go, here in the 2000's, I really don't have much need to brew b/c I can find pretty much anything my palate wants nearly any place I look. But I still like to crack out a nice 6 gallon batch of strong Belgian style ale every once in awhile! Good luck with your first batch. Just do some reading and edumacatin' with some good reference material first (Zymurgy, Charlie Papazian's books, etc.) and you'll be golden. Cheers!

Wurstkuche is only a mile from my new day gig. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing..

I was saving a case of the Kings Champs Bud Light bottles for opening night, but since it doesn't look like any games will be played we're going to enjoy them while playing poker tonight. I'll save opening night for a bottle of Schramsberg instead.

I love La Chouffe , I think I had it on tap once in Europe .
I have never seen it on tap in the US or Canada.
If it's on tap in LA I would like to know where .
Magic Hat #9. They call it Not Quite Pale Ale. From Burlington Vermont.
Picked this up @ Vons last night for $2.99 for a large bottle (24oz?). Very nice, smooth with hints of maybe pumpkin or similar spice, sweeter than bitter. I'd get it again.
