Yeah. However, while Racer X is quite delicious, Class X is other-worldly. I *might* have some free time coming up and I'm debating whether to make the 3 hour drive up to KRBC to pick up some beer since their distro has been almost nil for a long while.

Class X won't be in the bottles or growlers. they won't allow it.

Huge understatement, I havent had any beer from here since my friends brought me back some from the brewery a few months ago

#1 reason why KRBC needs to expand.

I know. I'd mainly be going up to get all the Class V I could get my hands on and then maybe some Just Outstanding, Dirty Hippie, and Citra.

Citra should be available the first weekend of February. plan accordingly!

however, if you do get your hands on the Dirty Hippies, I want some!

Pliny the younger was released on Friday at Russian Rivers brewpub. Someone said that it was a 5 hr wait to get in on friday but the beer was worth the wait.

No beer is worth a 5 hour wait.

only KRBC's Citra is! ;)

meanwhile, Box Stream Brewery's Chuffin' Ale is recommended. highly recommended. got it as a gift (along with other beers) from a friend in the UK. wish she had brought a whole lot more of that stuff.

Had Hebrew Jewbelation 16 last night. Incredible. 16 different Hops, 16 different Malts makes one yummy and potent brew. (16%)

Alesmith My Bloody Valentine is quite delicious. Similar to a black IPA but I think this one balances the two sides a bit better than the ones I've tried. The floral hop profile is contrasted well by the bittersweet chocolate and slightly roasty malts. Give it a shot if you find it.

Agreed. I prefer to pick up bottles from those, er, patient enough to stand in line. :dancing:

I was there for the Younger this past weekend. At 11:30 am the line was about 6-8 hours long. We said screw it and went mountain biking at Annedel State Park. On the way back the line was MUCH shorter, so we got something to eat and stood in line for 1.5 hours. We enjoyed 3 and they ran out. For the record, they do not bottle it, nor is it for purchase in growlers; it is only available in 10oz pours at the brewpub. It was quite delicious and well worth the 1.5 hour wait.

I brought home a growler of Pliny the Elder and Lagunitas Sucks.

I've been drinking Kiuchi Brewery: Hitachino Nest Classic and Nest White Ale's at the local ramen place. Good stuff with the fattier ingredients. I still prefer Kirin Ichiban for sushi.

No beer is worth waiting 1.5 hour for, period, end of story. I'd much rather go spend $40 for a case of Lagunitas Sucks than wait in line for PTY. Besides, Blind Pig is their best IPA...:Blue_smiley:

BTW, FW Sucaba should be on shelves right now. I scored 3 bottles today.

Highly concur with this. I've got a bottle from last year still in the fridge. I haven't been tempted to crack it just yet. It has a partner in there, a Parabola from last year. One of these nights.....

On this I will disagree. Russian River is probably at the top of my list as far as craft brewers go, and Pliny the Younger is one of the few I have never sampled. To me it is no different than waiting in line for a meal at a fine restaurant. Now 5 hours, is too much, because if the line is that long, there is probably a good chance that it may be tapped before you get to the bar. I am always in search of new beer experiences, and friends of mine who have had the Younger, tell me it is something I should experience. Luckily, I have a pint reserved for me next weekend, so I won't have to spend time in the queue.

Just a little added note. Eureka Burger in Claremont will be tapping their keg very soon. They have been very hush, hush as to exactly when, not even giving me the info, despite attempted cookie bribes. The only thing they have said, is that their followers on Facebook and Instagram will have first notice.

Disagree. As DougW8 pointed out, it's no different than waiting in a line for a restaraunt for one of the top five rated beers in the world by many rating organizations. Pig is a fine IPA, but PTY is vastly superior. I appreciate trying new beers and this was a bucket list type thing for me...unfortunately the line was the criteria for scratching this beer off the list. There is no other sure fire way for the average person to get it.

BTW, while at Lagunitas we had their 3 year aged port barrel Gnarleywine. Holy cow...that thing was ROBUST!

I wouldn't wait 5 hours to get into a restaurant either, but that's just me. I understand waiting in a line, sure. But when that line encompasses hours...sorry, not gonna do it. My .02.

Well, I'm not saying any particular beer will be there, but someone in the know told me tomorrow would be a good day to be at Eureka Burger in Claremont. The other restaurants in the area probably don't want a 5 hour line either.
