So if any of you are in the Claremont area, I just found out that Claremont Craft Ales will be releasing a new Belgian Style beer called Sweet Nothings next Thursday. This beer has some special meaning to me, because I assisted a local home brewer in making the first batch. It went on to win a contest at Claremont Craft Ales, and they have added it to their taps. My role was minor, but exciting to be involved in the inception.
 
Cool! I like did like the pale ale i had of theirs, it's called Carlisle I believe. I like belgians so i'll be checking that one out.

Way to go. They are a good crafter. Will try thanks for the heads up.
 
Made it ti the release of Sweet Nothings at Claremont Craft Ales last night. They did a great job of retaining the flavor of the original batch. They went through 2 kegs on the first night, which is pretty awesome for a small brewer. The beer will also be at the Great American Brew Fest in Denver this summer. Beerman, if you haven't tried Claremont Craft yet, it is definitely worth the trip. They are open Wed. through Sat from 4pm until 9 and will start having Sunday hours next month. They feature food trucks on Fridays.

Drat I forgot. But yes, concur about CC. Winner. Preferred over Dale Bros. too.

They will have more available tonight, and the guy who won the contest, Doug Granquist will be there tonight as well. He is an extremely talented home brewer. Dale Bros. is aimed toward people who drink Coors and Bud. It is more of an entry level craft brew, although I hear they are starting to branch out a bit.
 
Went to the Stone room in Pasadena over the weekend and picked up the Enjoy by 9/13... so good!!! Also got the Guttendammerrung. it was ok, very smooth. and while I was there, had to pick up a couple growlers of ruin ten :cheers:
 
Finally got my hands on the Anderson Valley Burbon Barrel Stout. Definitely on par with all the beers I've had from Kentucky. Worth a taste if you like the barrel flavor beers.
 
Heads up for you beer lovers- LA Beer Week is coming soon and there is an opening gala with 50 breweries set up inside Union Station. It's not exactly cheap to get in, but unlimited samples for 4 hours. Here's info with link for tickets

I like the idea of having this at Union Station, train there and back, nice. But you're right about that ticket cost. I suck at math, but by my calc at a hypothetical $5 per pint I'd have to drink 56 free 4oz samples to get my money's worth.
 
Depends on what you mean by "money's worth". I've been to beer festivals with similar setups (though not quite as pricey) and gotten enough damage done within the first 20 minutes to justify the price.
 
I long ago gave up drinking beer... or anything for that matter... based on price (value) vs sheer volume. The LABW opening event is appealing because Union Station is awesome, there will be a lot of great and possibly rare beer, and there will be similarly minded folks abound appreciating the atmosphere. How much will I actually drink? Dunno. And don't really care. Still, I understand it's not exactly the cheapest event out there.
