The Star Wars thread

oooh...Orph. You just hit the magic button. The only thing I would rather see than a QT SW is a fincher star wars...good call.

Frank Marshall Says STAR WARS Director Search Down to a Couple of Candidates; Joe Johnston Comments on Helming EPISODE VII | Collider

Actually, while he should be considered a 'safe' choice I think Joe Johnson could bring back the spirit of adventure that the original Star Wars had. And, him being more of a journeyman than a creator means that folks like Brad Bird/GDT would be free to bring their visions to new projects instead of playing in an established sandbox.

I wonder if they'd do it similar to how the Harry Potter franchise was done. With a different director in there for each. Joe Johnston was a name that I thought might get brought up actually when I first heard the news about the new movie. Like you said, a safe pick and he's got that "fun" thing going pretty good. Even though I didn't really care too much for the Captain America movie, with the right characters and script, he could nail it.

Sorry if I missed it but has there been official word yet that they're going to throw the expanded SW universe cannon down the toilet?

Disney planning 2 or 3 Star Wars films a YEAR!? | Blastr

Any of you guys who were pro-this move worried yet?

Not at all. Considering how large that universe is (at least in the books and related things), they could do it easy. Now, that means that they'd have to attach the right people to them all, but there's plenty of room in there for origin stories and the like. Would I like to see a Lando movie or Solo movie or something like that? Sure. Why not? That's not even touching the expanded universe type things. If done right, there's nothing to suggest it wouldn't be successful.

I want a Cronenberg Star Wars, lol.

Think about it, exploding heads, physical deterioration, KINKY sex, I mean, who doesn't want to see interspecies sex in a Star Wars movie, I know I do. mhihi:

Seriously, I still want David Fincher. DO IT DISNEY!

oh...be careful. Imagine they **** up so bad that we beg for Lucas to buy it back. It could happen. We all thought the prequels would be a win too. How wrong we were. I guess you guys are mostly all in. You think it could be like DARK HORSE's handling of the material(which I have no experience with but have heard good things about)? Hey, if SOMEONE could get a standalone series redeeming Boba Fett(the best ever character whom has repeatedly been done dirty to) I am all for it.
