The Star Wars thread

I am of course excited that there is a new Star Wars on the way, however.............................I am starting to think that JJ was the wrong choice, from my point of view, it has the same look (okay it's 88 seconds) as Into Darkness.

I thought the opening scene and dialogue was a teaser for a new scary movie 17 or space balls 2. I actually stopped it and looked for the right one. Then realized it was.

Fun trailer. Not having a religious experience like some people are but should be good movies, like the new Star Trek ones.

I think the Lucas sequels has us all course correcting a bit. We were all so excited, and so crushed. So this comes out and folks are sceptical. I get that. But the one thing this has going for it...it looks like fun. Maybe it's all the touchstones but when that x-wing shot hit...they had me. Maybe I get the rug pulled out from underneath again, but I took this as a good first sign. It's a year away...so this was but a taste. Wait...just wait.

Pod racing was fun. Didn't help the film. I'm excited and hope for great things, even above average would thrill me. I just don't feel the tone of the intro to the teaser seemed star wars. It's more the acting. I swear it seemed like a YouTube hoax video.

Pod racing looked like a video game, as did the rest of the movies. I dunno...liked the sorta low-fi vibe they were going for in the trailer. As long as it isn't 3 movies about the different world races and the intricacies of multi-planet politics it will already be better. I think that's one thing to be hopeful about. Abrams seems to at least embraced the 'less is more' approach to storytelling( at least as far as rumors, etc. go). Give us a simple story well told, with beloved characters to shepard us and don't be afraid to get creative with the fx and it's gonna be hard to give him anything but a win. At least that is the way I see it.

Ahaha. I thought and did the exact same thing. Totally thought it was a spoof.

Just wondering what the movie would have been like had Guillermo del Toro accepted...
