Because Japan isn't weird enough, haha. I just read that a Cholo Culture Subculture exists in Japan. Because there is nothing wrong with dressing up like a straight up cholo in the land of the rising sun. :grin:

I knew a young lady (years ago) who worked for Lowrider Mag. She was telling me in the bar one night that they had a very large request for the magazine in Japan. I thought she was drunk. But as it turned out, even in English, they shipped thousands over there. Who knew...?

Good thing they are naming themselves. Anyone remotely asian looking here is dubbed Chino or Chinito. "But I'm Japanese". "Hey everybody, Chino is Japanese". At least that's the way it was in 1978 in El Sereno. The dudes are more into it than the ladies because I didn't see any chola eyebrows. I'm always fascinated by my peeps from across the blue in their dichotomy of ultra conformity and abject weirdness.
