The Trade Deadline Thread

Ha! If there’s a trade announced it won’t be talked about in this thread. This thread is for bitching and moaning only.
Yes, there are strict rules regarding this.

Back to Trade Deadline talk....

I think Blake's hands are tied with VA coming off LTIR and apparently we have a salary cap "situation". Or do we? I have trouble deciphering the #'s on those websites. 🤷‍♂️
Possible moves could be Kaliyev, anyone from the Reign and (long shot) Roy.

What can the Kings get for Arthur? Have to trade Arvy, hopefully he will stand out in these next few weeks. If you trade Roy, you are saying the season is over and now you have to find another physical stay at home defenseman. You can't have Clark and Spence out there; they will get physically abused.

With this said, the Kings are in for a long off season and the next few years are going to rough, as they head back into the lottery.

It would be nice to get a young physical and mobile left shot dman for Kaliyev. Someone that can grow next to Clarke or Spence.

Me either, but it showed up for free on a google search.

Says he was really shocked by the trade. His mom said he couldn't understand why they (meaning the Kings) didn't want him.

Point being, the narrative that he wouldn't sign in LA, or wanted to be a free agent, or only wanted to play for the Wild is completely debunked by his own words and those of his family.

And yes, its me. Lost the email with my login ages ago, been lurking about for a while.

He, like Iafallo, has been up and down the lineup. Vilardi was playing 4th line at one point. Iafallo has been a healthy scratch or playing 3/4 line. Kupari has been, and may still be injured. I was always more upset about losing the second round pick than losing those 3 players.
Winnipeg has scored 9 goals in their past 7 games. They've also won 3 of those games, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not unless you trade Roy and AK and ? for an upgrade on LHD at a decent cap hit with some term. Roy is not going to sign a nice contract, I am sure. So need to go out and get a player that is already on one. Should be real easy. :wine:

Nah. England is fine with his minutes and cap hit.

What we need are more big strapping bodies for the bottom 2 lines if we want to try and doing something in the playoffs. The group that’s there ain’t gonna cut it, and Hiller is already shielding their minutes.

Blake brought in guys like Fiala and Dubois, who are good players, but they’re not the type of players that are central components of a winning team like Richards, Brown, Williams, etc..

now they’re good players and they will help you win some games but just more of the middle of the pack make the playoffs but can’t get far with them.

now you can’t really do anything your assets are low. These guys are not doing what you need them to do and you’re kind of just stuck here in the middle. I think the Fiala trade alone would be OK, but doubling down on it with the bra. It’s pretty much excepting the current status quo of just making the playoffs and perhaps getting lucky, but not good enough to go deep.

I don't see us trading Roy unless we free fall out of a playoff spot. That's even if we don't get him signed by then. We would just have to treat him like a playoff rental. We do need to trade Kaliyev. I'd like for it to be for a draft pick. Using him to upgrade our goaltending is another possibility. I wished we had used our goalies better& given them more even starts. Instead we rode one until he's done & now we're riding the other one. Unless this is Talbot's time to rest & he gets strong for the playoffs. But a strong established goalie is our best bet.

I think Blake still has to address LA's depth issues at either left wing or right wing, even though Arvidsson is now healthy and back in the lineup. Kaliyev and JAD either have to be traded away for lower-round picks or waived to make room for other players still playing in Ontario. Also, there are still some questions about our team's goaltending. As good as Rittich has been lately, he's not fully our #1 goalie yet, Talbot has been brought back down to earth as a glorified backup, and Copley is out for the season and should be let go at this point in his career. On the other hand, Portillo is not ready to be called up to the Kings roster yet and Dell is another career backup who's past his prime, so Blake has to figure out what to do with the goalie situation for the Kings this season.

To stick handle like that with a D stick (longer) is pretty insane. He has looked superb the last couple games.
Don’t know what game you were watching today, but he was manhandled in the corners, got lost on his assignments, and although he had 2 points, was even for the game.

Sure, getting a lucky bounce and a breakaway coming out of the box in OT for the winner is nice, and he may have redeemed his prior misgivings with the goal, he needs to start cleaning up his play in his own end or he’s likely going to enjoy watching the playoffs from the press box or not at all while’s he’s playing in the AHL playoffs with Ontario.

Agree, Spence is far more suited for 3rd pairing minutes in the NHL at this point. He also tends to get overpowered a bit, and turned around on occasion, but Clarke does not appear to be a DEFENDER at the nhl level. The rover role would be more applicable for Clarke IF his skating were at or above NHL average, but it’s just not.
