The Trade Deadline Thread

I like the top 9 if everyone is healthy. 4th line could use size up the middle. I still think Blake makes a move to shore that up. Hopefully.

Agree on the 4th line and exemplified by hiller not playing kaliyev and going w 7/11. Would be nice to get someone like bjugstad to win some faceoffs. ot sure who else is avail that would not cost a 1st to fill that role. pick up ry jo off waivers? 6'3" 215 centerman that has a little touch. have not watched him enuff... and the cap hit. dont think the kings have the space

Seeing all the reactions to the Avs picking up Sean Walker has got me laughing. Same old story of a completely under appreciated or ignored good role player on the Kings going to an East Coast team and watch how his reputation around the league and in the media completely changes.

It’s pretty cut and dry. They aren’t breaking the rules.
I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily cut and dry. Mr. Stone’s nebulous upper body injuries seem to come and go with a certain timing which could not be described as anything other than ‘perfect’.

While it’s within the boundaries of established rules and protocol, sprains, pulls, tweaks and other such maladies could be very subjective, as to when a player feels ready to go.

I always liked Sean Walker. Not a guy you notice a lot out there and a quiet player, but does his job and is a quality defenseman. I wish him well in COL.

JAD and Moverare waived, per Sevarelli's "X" account

More moves to come?
Not so sure. Kings will have to send Spence and Clarke to Ontario so they can be on the playoff roster for the Reign. Just a paper transaction. That being said, when Mikey comes back, one of them will be the 7th D man.

I'm just not sure the Kings have the space to trade for anyone unless Arvy stays out for the rest of the season and comes back for playoffs. Then they can use his cap space to bring in another player. But current belief is that he'll be back by end of March.

Anyone else with reasonable cap value is a keeper. Could they move Arty, possibly but that only opens up a roster spot and $894K in cap space. Moving Lizzo would clear up $1.7MM. I don't think there are any plans to move Roy and his $3.15MM cap hit.

Now, all that being said...you move Roy, Lizzo and Arty with Arvy staying on LTIR until the playoffs and suddenly you have almost $10MM in space. But again, I don't see that happening.

A bit surprised by Byram move. I'm assuming they feel that Walker is a good enough replacement to give Byram up and get the upside of Mittelstadt.
Byram seems to be often injured. Makes questionable plays and does not seem to be the same player he was the past 2 years. From what I gathered on the interwebs.

Henrique is the perfect player for EDM unfortunately.

Hopefully Blake can move some dead weight prospects for this year's draft as we are paper thin there.

Let this team ride it out and see what happens. I think we can give Vancouver a good series, but no way the Kings are getting by COL / EDM / DAL

If Blake wastes some assets on a rental I will lose my mind. It makes negative zero sense at this point.

Damn ok. I thought for sure Moverare would be claimed. Either Blake doesn’t mind taking the chance or he knows he won’t get claimed. Interesting.
I think the chances of Moverare being claimed increase if they waited until tomorrow to waive. More trades will have been done and more teams looking for bodies to fill a roster after trading a d-man away.

My guess is he gets claimed, but its not automatic. I think JAD clears.

Yeah i noted in the "other teams" thread that could see the oil and the panthers in the finals based on their moves. W pherry and henrique, they now may be able to have a 2nd line.

Was thinking that anaheim returning the favor from 07 pronger deal and helping out the oil

They also had to waive him today in order to meet the requirements for adding him to the Reign playoff eligible roster (same as they will do with Clarke and Spence, minus waivers). At the end of the day, they just would not have space for him once Mikey comes back as well. If they didn't waive him, they would have had to keep him and Mikey and then you'd be forced to send one of Spence or Clarke to Ontario for the rest of the season.

This makes more sense than freeing space for a move

IMO, it was more Blake not realizing that good RD are always in demand. He was selling very low to shed salary to bring in Gavrikov (and clear for PLD). If you are selling under duress, then you don't get market value. Philly was able to play him and get his value back to pre-injury and they got a bunch for him.

I'm cynical but I find it more likely that Blake made a bad deal than 20-30 NHL GMs were clueless and got duped by some east coast bias.

Duclair seems be a little bit of a PLD. He is there sometimes, and not others. He has been benched this year due to lack of effort.
So chances this actually happens are pretty good then?

Didn’t know that about him. Too bad. Thought he was a good depth player in the FL run.

If you recall, Walker was paired with that big RB mistake Cal Petersen (cap dump). Hard to figure the value that the Kings gave up vs what they got back in that trade.
