Got busy at work so I had to hit Post Reply
Thekla vs Kris Statlander - I unfortunately had to p*ss real bad so I chose to miss part of this match since it was going 2 out of 3 falls. I missed the 1st fall that Thekla won but saw the other 2. The match felt okay... Thekla is a good heel champ but I think they need a bigger babyface going for the title and not Statlander.
Mistico/JetSpeed vs Fletcher/Okada/Davis - Great match. These guys always deliver. I love Okada's theme so much and Mistico's theme rules too. I didn't expect the babyfaces to win but once they announced Mistico was All Elite, that explained it. I'm totally okay with the Trios Title and TNT title changing hands quickly. That's how it should be sometimes.
Andrade vs Bandido - This was my 2nd favorite match. They did the silly striptease stuff early on and that's fine but then once they went to another gear, holy crap it was good. Bandido's 21 plex when Andrade was on the mat was perfect! I liked that way better than them holding on to the ropes. Andrade's DM off the turnbuckle was sick too. I'm happy to see Andrade booked well.
Darby/OC/Roddy Strong vs The Dogs - I'm glad this was a Tornado Trios Match. It fits their style very well. I really thought David Finlay would get the win here. OC and Roddy leaving Darby tied for in the corner for minutes was silly. Darby took such a nasty spear to the outside. I think he caught part of the apron which made it look worse. And funny enough... no one bled in this match which was odd! But I think it was because they knew Hangman/MJF was going to have a lot of blood.
Hangman vs MJF - Tough match to rate because it wasn't a match. It got all the sick things we like in a Deathmatch so was fun. From glass to light tubes, to a syringe, and exploding table. What more could you ask for? The "We want fire" chant was unnecessary from the crowd. It goes to show that you really can't please the audience lol. As for the finish, I liked that Hangman's demise was his own fault because he was the one that introduced the Dog Collar to the match.
Tony Khan said in the press conference that Hangman's word on never challenging for the AEW Title again was like Cody. It was by word only and Tony said something that he expects Hangman to honor his words. I'm sure down the line, when Hangman is a heel again, he can go back on his words. But for now, let's keep him out of the title picture. Just wait until Swerve gets it back and he rubs it in Hangman's face.
For now, maybe Hangman should start going for the other titles and put those titles over. What if he won the Owen though? Can he bypass the stipulation then?
