Time to put no. 8 in the rafters.

Well, I'm not surprised LA went out with a whimper as Deadmonton eliminated LA in Game 6. That's four consecutive seasons of losing to the same team in the 1st round now. Absolutely inexcusable. The Coilers won't stand a better chance against either Winnipeg, Colorado, or Vegas. Those three teams won't be playing scared like the Kings do.

And yeah, Kopi and DD are both past their expiration date. Time for both of them to hang up their skates and call it a career. They truly look like washed up has-beens in today's hockey. Especially Kopi as he's too ineffective as captain of our Kings team; how many playoff rounds have the Kings won since Kopi took the reins from Brown as captain? Zero. Yes, he's produced more career points than Bergeron and has one more ring than him but there's no way to sugarcoat it anymore as defending Kopi at this point in his career has become an exercise in abominable mental gymnastics. Now if the Kings can find a way to manage the DD/Kopi contracts...

Also, goodbye to Nickson for what is now his last broadcasting game for the Kings in the playoffs this season. I'll miss him as well as Miller. What a truly sad way to end Nick's career.

And yes, please fire Blake, Luc, and Hiller.

I know this is an emotion thread, but this team is still damn good. You saw how good we played without Drew. Trade him. Get a new coach, GM, then make trades to tinker, get it done. So much of this is mental.

In the meantime, I hate this team.
This is fools gold and Blake put a bandaid on a wound. Kuemper panned out but doesn't make up for the Dubois trade and kuzmenko we were just lucky with doesn't make up for all the other bonehead trades

The duality of love and hate, Ambivalence. Great post.

They (11, 8) have 1 & 2 years left respectively. I see no harm in letting them play out their contracts & retire. This roster has lots of young talent, a smattering of older guys but not much guys left in their prime hockey years. They need more of that. They’re not going anywhere in the post season for a few years anyway

The problem is not letting them stay and play out their contracts, they for sure earned that and still have lots of things to offer this team and its younger players.

But the problem is that neither one of Kopitar or Doughty should play 20 or 28 minutes as they did tonight. And this isn’t their fault, the blame should be on Hiller and Blake for this!

How ever many likes one is allowed to react to a post, you have them for this

I’m just glad that Mike Richards is still getting his 4th line pay until 2028. He totally deserves it.🤦🏼‍♂️

I said it in the other thread & I'll say it here. Doughty was injured this season. And however much he's healed, he's not 100%. And he can't be until the off-season. So let him fully heal & train. Then we'll see how good he still is. Meanwhile he should at best play on the 2nd PP unit. He actually fits better with them than the 1st unit.

With Kopi, this is his last year before his contract is up. And I want to see if Byfield can replace him as 1st Center. I know he's got the tools but he doesn't yet have the consistency. And we have to think about who's replacing Kopi as the #1 or 2 Center because Danault is Center #3. BTW, no. Neither are being traded or bought out. I know they did it to Quick. But they're not doing that to 2 franchise legends.

One could argue that Quick is actually more legendary in LA than either Kopi or DD. He'll most likely be in the HOF, where the other two may not.

Their contributions will never be forgotten. But at this point they're hamstringing the team with their salaries for the next couple of years.
