Lets see if Tod can stop his lovefest for the Vets and insulates more youth forwards in positions to succeed. Cant expect Rookies to contribute much or do anything when he loads up the top two lines with Vets and the Rookies get 7 -8 minutes a game with little or no PP time. Again from his track record I highly doubt he will do that and it will be more of the same. This team at this time needs a young coach.

I will concede that the reason the Reign got demolished by Colorado was likely due to the fact that they were missing players like Vilardi, Turcotte, Byfield, Andersson, Spence, Durzi, etc. Opponents definitely seemed to be more capable of shutting down Tynan/Frk with the young prospects out of the lineup.

Thinking the team now has enough experience within the roster to be better next season without Tynan or Frk on the roster unless we see a decent sized package of young prospects being traded out of the system. Either way, those two get passed by by some of the younger talented, and more multi-dimensional, players next season.

I'm not generally a Todd fan but to his defense it's hard for a coach not to play their best players in an attempt to win as many games as possible. Long term strategy (seasons beyond the current) really should fall mainly on the GM. Therein, Blake could solve this problem by trading some of the vets to make way for the next wave of contributors.

Rookies do need to earn their time and progression though. Based on last season Kaliyev and Kupari should definitely be in store for more playing time, and hopefully we see Bjornfot elevate his play and minutes as well. Durzi was great but likely reduces simply due to Doughty coming back. Andersson and Vilardi really haven't earned a roster spot, based on last season, but I hope they both get one (especially Andersson who played only a total of only 24 games last season between the AHL and NHL).
