Haha. ;)

If this game doesn’t make it painfully evident that Fiala is a marked man by the officials, I’m not sure what further proof could be needed. Especially with the very same stick transgression committed by a Utah player against Mikey in a crucial zone clearing defense situation that led to a Utah goal. The blatant missed trip against Kempe late in the game was also vexing, and given the lopsided officiating, I’m actually surprised the refs didn’t call him for a high stick after he was upended.

I’d also like to sound off regarding Cole’s hit against Turcotte. This is precisely the type of play that’s going to end this kids career prematurely. I’m sure you won’t hear a peep about it on any hockey news broadcasts, even though it is fairly identical to the hit Trouba laid on Barron last week, that had the entire hockey media in a furor. Why Jeannot is not out there eating Cole’s lunch on the ensuing faceoff is beyond me, but I dislike seeing this sort of thing going unanswered. I don’t care if it was a clean hit or a dirty hit..it was a player catching our guy by surprise in a disadvantageous position, and there was shoulder to jaw contact. Furthermore, that chicken wing flew wild on the follow through, and it needs to be answered, if only to let a kid like Turcotte know that he’s going to be protected, and allow him to play confidently and aggressively. If he starts playing a tentative game, he may as well hang up the skates now, because he is only effective when he plays full steam ahead.

Lastly, I’d like to commend Danault for single handedly defending the lead in the third period. What an effort by that guy.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned…but if I took a drink every time Nick Nickson called Joel Edmundson - EDMONTON
- I’d be drunk by the 1st intermission.

Good game. Man I liked Fiala last year but this year he is a total liability. Glad he got benched. Get it fixed Fiala. Surprised not a word from Daryl on the broadcast. Was he benched too?

I agree 100% on this. What is the use of having players like Jeannot and Edmundson on the team if they are going to allow this sort of thing to go unchecked. The hit may have been legal, but that really was the equivalent of taking a run at a player while he is focused on fending off the Utah player harassing him from behind. Hits like that, even if they are clean, need to be answered.

With Turcotte's concussion history, I'm relieved he wasn't injured on that play.

I finally got to watch the game. I don't think I would've predicted that all 3 goals would be scored by defensemen. Or that Edmundson would get 2. And I certainly wouldn't have predicted Fiala getting benched the entire 3rd period. But it was the right call. Maybe you can nit pick the last call. But he's taking too many penalties & he's starting to get a reputation. Which makes calls like that happen. Hopefully this is a 1 off & he's back to regular play. He's too valuable not to be out there. Anyway, this was a better game by the Kings than the Sharks game.

Also, if we're looking for a shorter name for the Utah Hockey Club, I'm just going to call them the Clubs.

He was doing the radio broadcast with Schaefer, whom also called Edmunson "Edmonton" once or twice. Clearly, they're grooming Schaefer for taking on the play by play duties for when Nick retires.
