I really enjoyed this one. The author looks at several writers, artists, and musicians and examines how some of the ideas they put forth in their work were later supported by science, thus arguing for the importance of the relationship between art and science.
Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
Been wanting to read this one for a while. It's an interesting look at the different factors that can lead to success.
I really enjoyed this one. The author looks at several writers, artists, and musicians and examines how some of the ideas they put forth in their work were later supported by science, thus arguing for the importance of the relationship between art and science.

I'm in a reading slump 
I've tried to pick up some books and read them but I just cant get into anything. I even tried re-reading some of my favorites Count of Monte Cristo, three musketeers, even tried re-starting a few different series: fire and ice, presidential agent, dresden files, codex alera, harry potter. Nothing is catching my attention enough to keep reading it. Any suggestions for me?

Finally about to crack open John Dies at the End.
What a fantastic bit of science fiction Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding was!! I'll admit it took about a hundred pages for it to really grab me, but Wooding developed the characters into a likeable bunch, each with their own craziness. I'd describe this book as a sort of Firefly meets Cowboy Bebop with a smidge of Pirates of the Caribbean thrown into the pot to add flavor...served in a steaming bowl and garnished with a sprig of daemonism. THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE!! So much so that I'll be moving on to the next book in the Tales of the Ketty Jay series immediately!
Was reading the story in the latest Smithsonian about Pinkerton's involvement in getting Lincoln safely to his inauguration. Started looking for some good biographies on him and his agency, if anyone has a good recommendation I would appreciate it.

Pretty interesting book that discusses the biological and neurological factors involved in different types od addiction.
The Tell-Tale Brain: A Neuroscientist's Quest for What Makes Us Human by V.S. Ramachandran
I loved this one! It discusses different functions that the human brain has that don't seem present in other species (e.g. language, introspection, among others) and explains how studies dealing with a variety of patients, including those with mental disorders that they were born with or resulted from accidents, shed light to how the brain might have evolved to allow these unique human functions.
And I am currently reading this one. So far, so good.

You can continue with Dune Messiah and Children of Dune, both of which are pretty good. I remember liking Children quite a bit.

Without a doubt, the best KING in a dogs age. Like all good King, you grip the pages hoping that things don't unfold the way you know they are going to. Characters you care DEEPLY about. Yeah, like most of his work...peters out towards the ending, but it JUST DON'T MATTER. Had such a hard time reading anything since that I have had to go to the latest Hap'n'Leonard book from Joe R. Lansdale. And...that'll do.
