Yeah, think organized crime within an Indian Casino, and with good character development.
I checked out the first three TPBs, should be a fun ride.

Just finished "John Dies at the End" and I liked Spiders better. Both were good, but JDATE was more disjointed (which makes sense since it was written in pieces) while Spiders had more of a cohesive story-line. Both were good though.

Thanks. I'm definitely going to read Spiders soon. You are right about the structure (or lack thereof) of John Dies. I'm glad to hear Spiders is a more cohesive whole.

One of my BFF's is an Apache that grew up on a rez in Arizona. After many a night drinking beers and listening to his rez stories, I would have been disappointed if it wasn't incredibly violent.
For any Neal Stephenson fans, I picked up Big U (his first published novel)
It's pretty raw but a great read if you've already read his other stuff. He pretty much has small side stories from several of his later books contained in here and they seem like funny inside jokes when reading it now. In general I'm not surprised the book itself wasn't a hit originally but considering when it was written there's several subplot satire lines that hold up remarkably well.

I got this book from bookbub, I think thats the name of it. It's a service that emails ebook deals to you. I learned that you really shouldn't pick a book solely on what you can get it for. Having said that, even though it took me a while to get really into it, the book turned out ok. Some decent twists and turns and a good concept. I was bummed that the book is the first eight parts to what I think is now 10 deep. 9 and 10 are sold as Kindle singles but i really don't think I'll invest any more time into this one.

Btw, I've finished Scalped now and consider it to be one of the top 3 series I've ever read.

I read Y on a binge too, but it took me about a week.
Yeah. The last man on Earth concept isn't something I'd personally read before, so it was a really interesting topic to me. That's going to be a binge read.
Next up are Northlanders and DMZ.

I just finished reading the whole DMZ series recently. I'd read the first 4 or 5 books as they came out, but then missed a few and fell off it. Kept buying the trades as they came out, though, and sat down to read 'em all this last month or so. Enjoyed the series thoroughly. Didn't think it was amazing, or anything, but very good. Probably would have liked it even better if I were more familiar with or had some sort of emotional attachment to New York.
I've read the first 4 books of Northlanders and loved the **** out of them. Still need to get caught up on the rest.
