Just finished 1984 and was blown away. Definitely one of the best books I've I ever read. I wanna get an INGSOC Tattoo. I'll definitely check out Brave New World.

Dashiell Hammett's Red Harvest

FANTASTIC READ! Hammett has always had an amazing grasp of prose, and Red Harvest is no exception. When I'm in Hammett's worlds, I'm always so blown away that a majority of his long form work were in the late-20s to mid-30s, and nothing after 1934's The Thin Man. So, so good. Highly recommended.

So glad that classes passed me by a long time ago, I read for the simple enjoyment of it.
Heartbreaking...imagine Giving tree crossed with Let the Right One In...it's an old story, but man is the biggest monster of all.
Little Stevie King's son done good....goddamn look at the dust jacket photo, if he don't look like his father's son.
This is uneven...but like most of Joe Hill's stuff so far, hints at good things to come.
And this is the ****. My 2 fave things...Zombies and Short Stories. So far, a lot of the stories have had a current events feel...lotsa parallels between troubled times/war in other countries...but a fair smattering of splattering too. Just good stuff. If you haven't read Skipp/Spectors BOOK of the DEAD anthologies(why in the **** haven't you????...Get on it NOW) this is a solid buncha eater stories.

Loved both of them, McCarthy's a literary master. Blood Meridian's my favorite book by him, his prose in that novel is unparalleled.

Lokota heroes, language and tradition, General Custer, the carving of Mt. Rushmore and so much more from the USA between 1876 and 1936 woven together in a beautifully crafted novel. Simmons is one of my favorites.

I knew very little about Mishima until I started reading this, very compelling character he was and the story of his missing Katana is riveting to me.

Mishima's one of my favorite authors, the man was an absolute master of literature. I'll have to check this book out, thanks for the recommendation.

Right now I am reading, "Water for Elephants". So far I have to say I love this book. It's about a man in his 90's reminiscing about his time working for a circus in the 1930's. The author did a lot of research on this book, and it reads very well. I highly recommend it, even though I am only 100 pages into it
