Damnitall...finally finished Game of Thrones:Storm of Swords...I promised myself that I would take a break and read some of the other books that have piled up since I started this series. Promised myself. Well, after that epilogue consider that promise broken. Feast of Crows it is!!!!! And yes, I know you guys said it's kinda downhill from here. Don't care. I'm stuck.:drunk:

Set in a post-apocalyptic world where the inhabitants of echo city believe there is nothing/nobody outside of their city. As usual, all is not as it seems. Good read.

Just finished "No Country for Old Men." Good stuff and a really unusual writing style. Amazing how closely the movie tracked the book. Fight Club, which I read just before that, was the same way. Great adaptations, both of them.
Funny how you see the movie actors reciting the lines in your brain if you read the book after seeing the movie. I gotta say, Chigurh is probably scarier in the movie than in the book. No mention of an accent in the book, either.

I am almost finished with "American Sniper." Great read and very interesting guy on an interesting piece of history. First book I have read electronically on my iPad and I don't think I want to go back to regular books any time soon.

Read this a couple books ago, and concur on your assessment regarding the book itself and reading on the iPad. Before the iPad, I read on the original Nook, and before that, regular books. I wouldn't go back from reading on the iPad to reading on the Nook. I do, however, order regular books when they're something I want to add to my library...and then, I try and get hard bound first editions if I can.

Ok...I am going to be as vague as possible, still, for those of you not reading the books and watching the show...SPOILER ALERT
I find myself torn. A character I so wanted to hate I find myself loving...so complex. Going to be hard for the HBO show because at this point the books turn completely away from the main characters(who are still alive). Such a great story. All of you told me how this book was a letdown, yet I find I am tearing through this book at a pace i could not acheive with the first 3. The story is still catnip-like fascinating and I find myself reading faster in the hopes that i will get to find out more about characters that have gone walkies for a while. Seriously one of the best fantasy series i have ever read and the fact that the show manages to do it justice is simply amazing. Almost unheard of quality...
First: Thanks to Birdman for suggesting Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash. AWESOME book, and I'll be reading more from him very, very soon!!!
Second, **** BARNES AND NOBLE! **** THEM RIGHT IN THEIR BLOATED PASTY ARSES!!! I had a wishlist as a Nook/Nook Software user for the last two years that had over sixty books that I've been wanting to read. Each time I'd finish a book, I'd go look through my wishlist and select the next. Well today, when I finished Snow Crash, I went and logged into my account and found that my NookBook Wishlist has been completely wiped out. As in deleted. As in doesn't ****inig exist anymore. ****!!!
I'm so pissed I could crap. Now, after sitting on the computer with a support chat and on the phone with three levels of tech support, they're telling me that they "...had an issue with this last month, but that the bug has been found and corrected, and that I shouldn't have a problem with any of my wishlists going forward...but because I'm still having issues with mine, there is nothing they can do."
Did I mention ****!!!
If they can't find my wishlist, I'm'a be PISSED enough to never buy a book (electronic or otherwise) from BN ever again.
EDIT: Yep. DONE with BN. **** 'em. The phone CS guy (after placing me on hold for ten minutes trying to find out answers to my problems) grilled me about stupid stuff like web browsers I'm using (tried looking at things through all browsers I have...Chrome, FF, IE, Safari...same result). Then he says that I need to help him by trying to create a new wishlist to see if I can save things to it. No. I'm not going to hunt for bugs for them. I either need my wishlist restored from a backup they have on their end, or I'm taking my business elsewhere for my electronic reading needs. Well, when I (very politely) informed him of that and asked him (again, very politely) to escalate my issue to the next level of support, he hung up on me.
Done. With. Barnes & Noble.

I absolutely love this series, and as a sidenote JD, it is widely regarded that Feast and Dance are actually one giant book with a bit tacked on to the end.
If you are missing some character' plotlines they are covered in Dance with Dragons. At that point you can join me in the line for the next one, which is probably due somewhere around 2018 knowing the way GRRM works.

Just a little side story related to The Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones to the telly crowd)
I was in a wedding in SoCal as a groomsman recently. The bride's father was older and very much a pain in the ass all weekend.
One of the other groomsmen leans in as the parents are being seated and drops this "Is it just me or is that dude a dead ringer for Walder Frey?"
Us groomsmen laughed a bit until I said "If I hear the 'Rains of Castamere' we're f***ing outta here"
Good times.

His 'Oldness' better get to writing. Funny...I actually like Feast better than some of the books because i was able to tear through it easier. It wasn't 'less' by any stretch, i think it just took you away from some of the more complex storylines. I cannot wait to start reading the first few pages of Dance with Dragons...but note to others...DO NOT READ THE LINER NOTES...friggin spoiler heavy. Makes a LOT of sense though. I am gonna ask this on the Game of Thrones thread too, but how much interest is there in starting a thread GAME OF THRONES:THE BOOKS(SPOILERS ABOUND). Clearly, the show has created a tremendous audience for the books and it is becoming a phenomenon at this point. I have so many questions about what I have read, as I am sure others do. I think that those of us who have read the books could use a forum to discuss what we know and suspect. Let me know what you GoT readers think.
