***Winnipeg Jets vs. LA Kings GDT 10/27/22 7:30pm on BSW***

Not the smartest play by Lemieux there but not the reason we lost there.

This wasn't the outcome we wanted, but it was the outcome we deserved. I have no clue what TM is trying to have the Kings do out there.

Done don’t even want to discuss this s#it show too late for me at 12am and a flight home at 9am est

The status quo must change cos this display is horse s**t.
Sit some people and call up some kids.

Kings suck on defense. and are worse at getting the puck out of their zone. TM just cannot get this team to play the game right. if this continues, the Kings will get nowhere close to making the playoffs.

I don’t give a **** about the “excitement” we’re seeing on the scoreboard. If they keep playing Pee Wee hockey on defense it’s going to be rough season…

Another game ruined with poor puck management and penalties. Not exactly sure how you fix these mistakes, as they seem to be mental. Its certainly not structural. But the team seems to lack focus right now.

Was that whole 1-3-1 neutral zone thing last year a contingency for how depleted our D was from injuries last season? Cause I'm not even sure what our system identity is this year. Activating the D guys sure isn't helping win any games right now.

Is Nyssa gonna somehow cause the first tie in the league since the intro of the shootout?

I was absolutely expecting some sort of weirdness to ensue in the last 3 minutes or so....right up until we took that stupid penalty

How the hell did we lose this game? This team is so inconsistent. They need to get back to how they played last year & tighten up defensively.

So bad, they may need to bring back Terry Murray to institute the old ‘home plate’ mentality with the defense. Atrociously lazy give aways at all of the lines on the ice. Fiala seems especially guilty of trying to get a head start by reaching behind himself to pull the puck forward, only to turn it over.. on that note, I don’t think it’s any mystery who Todd was talking about, when mentioning that he was unhappy with some aspects of Kopi’s line.

I think some of the let down this year falls on the average to poor defensive play of Kopitar and Danault.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. Neither one of these two seem to be as tenacious defensively as they were in previous seasons.

Perhaps they reckon this team can coast into the playoffs, while conserving energy, and then pop off once they’re in the post season. If that’s the case, they are sorely mistaken.

Ouch!

How do we come out of this game without even salvaging 1 point?

This one hurt.

One would think the players and coaches would be sick of blowing leads. This team is going nowhere under the current leadership both behind the bench and on the ice.

Booooo!

Put the “C“ on Danault.

Shots were 16-1 at one point. It really feels like the shortie did it, both to crush the Kings and show WPG they could do it.

Sorry for the rant. It’s frustrating enough not to be able to watch the games without seeing all these blown leads in the boxscore when I wake up in the morning. Is the team defense really that bad???

There has been the occasional issue because of an activated D man, but i strongly believe the issues right now have more to do with puck management and penalties. I dont want to make it sound like last night was lizotte's fault, or his line's fault, but there were a couple examples that spring to mind for me, whereby lizotte had the puck, was dancing around and simply fell down and coughed it up. You cant do that. He needs to make better decisions there. Late in the game, it happened on an extended shift in the King's zone. That line had several chances to simply clear the puck out of the zone and reset. But they didnt, and it cost them. One of the short handed goals i believe... you could see the odd man break taking shape off the draw when none of the kings committed to getting the puck that was just sitting there. Several players got themselves to no man's land, and the jets pounced on it and took it down for a 2 on 1 goal. A lot of this stuff is decision making. Guys are finding themselves in a position where they havent committed to one action or another, and its leading to turnovers.

Penalties too... that Kempe penalty was atrocious. I mean absolutely dumb ass awful. In no world did he have any chance of another outcome. Lizotte took a bad penalty. Lemeuix took a bad penalty at the end of the game. And these sorts of penalties have been happening all season so far.

There's also an issue of a few guys doing what id say is too much, or simply unnecessary, leading to inopportune turnovers near the attacking blue line. Durzi has been responsible for a few. Last night Fiala did some weird ass spin-o-rama pass right at the blue line to kopitar that had me really scratching my head.

The Kings are not making consistent decisions right now. The 1-3-1 is fine. The active defensemen is fine. In fact the attacking D is one of the better things ive seen from them this season, but the overall focus and decision making has been lacking. I dont know what the fix is because im unsure what the cause is. Are they simply not getting mentally prepared for games? Last night to end the 1st, winnie pulled their goalie for an offensive zone draw. Kings won the draw cleanly and had enough time to put a shot on goal. Instead, they just sort of stood around. Are guys fully understanding the situations in front of them from minute to minute? The team has some new players in the line up. They are definitely evolving their game strategy with more active d men. Is that just leading to some confusion right now? We've seen this team play exactly how we know they can for stretches, and then they just seemingly lose focus and mismanage the puck. Thesew were things we saw last season, too, but theyve been a bit more costly this season.
