***Winnipeg Jets vs. LA Kings GDT 10/27/22 7:30pm on BSW***

This seems to me to be the #1 issue. The first 10 minutes of last night were great! Fun, exciting, fancy passes that were working! But then the "fancy" kept on going but was getting outworked.

On a related POSITIVE....I love the way we're cycling in the O zone! Dman jumps in, forward takes his place. It's great when it works and everyone plays their role. But if everyone isn't perfect then then...well, we see what happens.

Totally! When it works it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from this team in years. They’re scoring a lot of goals and against some really good goaltenders. But the other teams adjust and then expose them. And Kings just keep doubling down and get exposed some more.

Speaking generally, they’ll need to be more patient and opportunistic. Not every shift has to be a barnburner.

IDK if I've ever seen a Kings team like this - high scoring and high goals against. It's weird. We seem to be lacking some hardcore fundamentals regarding giveaways and takeaways that are directly leading to goals. The O is there but even the defensive mindset, besides the D itself, is lacking hard.

Sorry for the rant. It?s frustrating enough not to be able to watch the games without seeing all these blown leads in the boxscore when I wake up in the morning. Is the team defense really that bad???

If that was a rant than I am the Kings stellar defense.

One would think the players and coaches would be sick of blowing leads. This team is going nowhere under the current leadership both behind the bench and on the ice.

Booooo!

Put the ?C? on Danault.

Yeah it really does seem time to change up the "C" and find a hard nose, disciplined and vocal leader to pin it on. Nothing against Kopi, but ever since the "C" was taken off Brown the leadership on the team just hasn't been the same. Now with Brown retired, and Iafallo out (who has helped to fill the void in the past) we have Kopi, Doughty and Danault. Out of the three Danault definitely stands out, though it does appear he's taken a bit of a step back this season. Too bad we can't put the "C" on Quick haha j/k :)

Reminds me a little bit of 2008 when they brought in Terry Murray to put an emphasis on defense after the Crawford debacle. Maybe they need that again.

"That focus on defense that Murray has spoken at length about was evident not only in the players' performance, but on the ice...literally, Murray and staff have painted five circles in the shape of home plate on the practice ice.

"We focused on the defensive end, what I call home plate," Murray said of the five black spots in front of the goalmouth. "That is the mindset of what the players have to have. Taking care of home plate and eliminating some of those grade one scoring chances is a priority and that was focus today."

"The dots are a reference point. When the puck is coming into your defensive zone, it is what I call home plate positioning. The prime scoring area is right there in front of the net below the hash marks, that is where we have to be defending."" - LAKings.com
