2022 Offseason Thread

If we dealt with Vegas, & I'm not sure we should, it's going to have to be for someone making $5 million or more a year. Of the 10 guys on their roster who fit this category, only 1 doesn't currently have a no trade or movement clause & it's Shea Theodore. So if I were Blake I'd see what it takes to get him. I'd also find out which players with the modified NTC has the Kings on their lists. But I just assume it's all of them.

Gotta think Vegas would have to be pretty foolish to be willing to trade Theodore, but I agree it's worth inquiring about. Maybe Vegas turns out to be as foolish as the Ducks...

Kings have signed TJ Tynan and Jacob Moverare to two-year contract extensions.

Tynan is getting paid well. $800,000/$500,000 next year (NHL/AHL) and $775,000 guaranteed in 2023-2024. I guess that's the going rate for an AHL MVP.

Moverare's contact is apparently a two-way deal for the first year and then one way for the second. Perhaps structured that way to reduce the chance of him being claimed if waived this season.

I'm surprised that the one way would dissuade a team from the claim. Good for Tynan though getting a heck of an AHL salary.

The most interesting part of that article was how it pointed out the scoring in the bottom six as noting only Kaliyev and Lizotte cleared 10 goals in that role. It actually makes me wonder how much of Lizotte's production can be attributed to AK. Arty did get 6 of his 14 goals on the PP, but getting 8 at evens in the bottom role he had is nothing to sneeze at. Lizotte understandably didn't get much if any PP time. AK did post 10 even strength assists (only 3 on the PP). Last year Lizotte only posted 3 goals in 41 games and the season before 7 in 65 games. He's actually entering his 25yo season so still eligible to have a statistical peak on his own. Just a curiosity in my mind that lends itself to keeping Blake in a 4th line role and hoping that one of these rookies will play their way into the middle six role this team needs.

Regarding Forsberg, their comments about Burakovsky and Nichushkin were comical. Nadri is gone there and those two will be Sakic's focus. If anyone wants to raid any part of the Av's their most likely scenario is believing Ryan Murray has something left in the tank to offer a team that needs depth. He's still only 28 and could find he's still a quality NHL'er, competing with the other folks on that back end might make Drew wonder if he still knew how to hockey.

Agree on Nichuskin. There is NO WAY the Av's move him now. He has had a tremendous playoff and is integral to what they are doing moving forward. Burakovsky less so but I doubt he is made available.

Ryan Murray is an interesting option. I wonder if the Kings end up going after a guy who was a high draft pick somewhere and never really panned out. This could be an option and would prove out that Blake an his development squad are really doing well. I would try and take a flyer on a goalie who is available and let Ranford work his magic. Heck I'd even try and get Jack Campbell back on the cheap.

Vegas is a mess so you never know. A couple of other thoughts in terms of picking at Vegas' roster. What about trying to get Patches in a salary dump? He's a top line scoring winger. And Vegas could use $7 million like nobody's business. Maybe you can get him for cheap'ish. The other thought will never happen because RFA's never get interest, but how about putting in a 2.5-4mil offer on Nic Hague? A 6-6 LD would help the Kings get pushed around less. And Hague is starting to put his game together playing over 18 minutes.

I'd rather have Robert Hagg, Chychurn and Nick Paul. Two of them are UFAs - and not the most expensive UFAs - and one has to be gained in a deal that will cost something. The concern for me on Hagg and Paul is if they would be willing to move to the west. I'm not sure about the rest of you but I'm beginning to wonder if players really DON'T want move to LA.

The biggest issue for the LAK is they need to get bigger and stronger d-men as well as size on the wings. Secondary scoring is obviously an issue but another addition similar to VA should help that. Like others I have no problem moving a combination of the following to address needs in trades: AI (proven NHL roster player), JAD (strong prospect who can improve another team's 34d/4th lines), Turcotte 9have injuries minimized his value? Still a top 5 pick), Vilardi (change of scenery helps him?), Durzi (proven NHL roster player who can be top 4 on right team), Bjornfot (might be the one guy to try and hold on due to how long proven NHL d-men take to develop), Akil Thomas. (probably has minimal value at this point).

You mean other than the premiere UFA from last summer?

While I agree with you - I loved PD last summer - the Canadian media and NHL Radio didn’t consider him the premier FA of the summer and they were shocked he got 5x$5.5.

Danualt proved the doubters wrong and looking back at that free agent class, he was the cream of the crop by quite a margin. Can't wait to see what he does for an encore!

For this off season I expect that the team will not do too many changes from the team that ended the season. We should get back Drew and Walker but will most likely not resign Edler , Maatta or Stecher.
I would like to see them trade our 1st and several of our talent pool be it Vilardi or Turcotte , Anderson-Dolan , Fagmo and Durzi if needed to get Chychrun. We do need a young stud defenseman who will anchor the D as Drew gets older as well as quarterback the 2nd unit PP.

As far as free agents out there I would stay away from the higher priced ones like Forsberg and instead look at someone like Rickard Rakell to replace Brown. Pittsburgh is in cap hell and need to resign Malkin and Letang as well as find a Goalie.

So how we feeling about Turc removing LAK from his bios on social media? Does he know something we dont know yet? He stopped following LA KINGs but once the chatter picked up he was following again but never put LA back on his bio.

I?m a social media dinosaur and know basically nothing about how you use them, but even to me it seems a bit odd to unfollow your own team and/or leave them out of your bio.

If this is true--he sounds salty--oh well, hope we get some sorta value before he becomes our newest Thomas Hickey-esque 1st round bust.

Talks about Wild calling around and asking for teams final offer on Kevin Fiala. The 25-year-old winger had 33 goals and 85 points this year, your thoughts about Kings going after him?

I can't say I have watched him very much but he is 5'10" 206 lbs so about Sean Durzi's size. I think with how we got manhandled by much bigger/stronger teams I'm not sure he is what we truly need.
