2023 Trade Deadline Thread

How about another hockey trade ala Portillo?

Couple of prospects (Spence + Fagemo) for a young LHD would be nice.

Damn. That was the guy I really wanted the Kings to get. Of course, not like Blake and Armstrong are good trade partners or anything.

Agree, I really wanted him too. This was bad for two reasons, Edmonton got better and we didn’t…

Their goaltending remains suspect and giving up Barrie is a big move. Of course if anyone can take a hit on offense/pp for better defense it’s that team. Bjugstad is going to give them additional grit and bottom 6 depth they need. Man I hate to see anything good happen to them.

Having sent Bjornfot down, our cap space today is $6,089,714 and will be $6,234,707 tomorrow.

Apparently we are looking into adding a 3rd-line center. Top target could be Nick Bjugstad, who is having a great year. However, he only earns $900,000 which means there will be a lot of interested teams.

Hoven mentioned Nick Bonino as a potential target. (He was not making a trade rumor, just saying it could be a fit.)

Both players will be UFAs.

Oilers got Bjugstad. Those f$&*(&#s

I find it interesting that Seattle has been quiet through all this. I don't know the timeline on Burakovsky's injury, but perhaps GM Ron Francis feels that the winger's return will be akin to a deadline addition.

Spence is not the one to flip in a deal like this.

Why not? He's one of the only prospects left with high "relative" value.

If it's Doughty and Clarke on the right, with Durzi still in the fold where does Spence ever fit in?

Grans makes more sense to hang on to as a 3rd pairing more physical type with some offensive chops as well.

I totally agree with this. Blake needs to look at roster management and see who he can fit in where. There are still a lot of pieces blocking Spence's path to the ice. It makes sense to sell high.

Conor Garland of the Canucks is suddenly being mentioned. Canucks want Turcotte.

The NHL network said the Kings had the best top-9 in the NHL and I'd agree with that. If you add Garland, then you're really loading up the forwards. If I could get some salary retention, I'd make that deal.

Garland too small for playoff hockey.

I wonder how bad is Kopitar hand or fingers.
