It's official: Walking Dead casts fan-favorite character Tyreese | Blastr

LOVE the casting. Worries me a bit though. Tyreese was Rick's second in the comics. If they are going to do that, where does that leave Darryl. Walker bait? Or maybe he leaves for Woodbury and his brother at some point. Tyreese is coming in a bit late opposed to the comics so I wonder if they are just going to redo his whole storyline. I guess he is gonna be the big ending for the 1st half of the season. Interesting stuff.

Just fantastic. I hope they can keep up this quality. Truly concerned for Glenn & Maggie and we finally get to see when Darryl & Merle reunite. Damn you winter hiatus...

Looks like they are going to push the governor to his breaking point and everyone will really get to see what and who he is. Loved the shock everyone showed about how the prison group actually cleared the prison! They are a group to be reckoned with obviously and I think Michonne is very impressed. The fact Rick didn't allow her in the general population and said she could heal, get food and move along impressed her a lot, unlike the governor's extended hand. Really well done build up to the intensity of the situation. I think a lot of people are going to get it next week and I am worried about Glen and Maggie as well. Andrea has got to come back to the fold as well somehow. She won't fit in at Woodbury with her desire to get back into the fight. The Woodbury population must really be sheep - it will be interesting to see their reaction once a group of walkers invades.

I really thought the Governer was gonna shoot Maggie in the head after she gave up the prison, glad that didnt happen.

They aren't free yet. What a damned tense episode...the stinging music at the end was tremendous too. Glen really manned up. He ain't a kid no more. That was a terrific scene, the death by zombie bit...and Merle saying the zombie would be hungry again in an hour...nice. The mostly wordless reunion with Carol was pretty touching especially when she went thru the whole realization that Lori didn't make it. They have really done good things with this show and the break till February is going to suck out loud. And with Boardwalk going to finale too we are gonna lose 1/2 the Sunday shows in one swoop. Crap.

You said it JD. I thought the governor was going to shoot Maggie as well. I think Glen would've lost it then and gone medieval on all of them - guns or no guns.

I agree - it appears that Mazzera (sp?) was ready for show runner status. This has really been a very good year and each epi has been well done. I agree with the music from last night - it had me going as well.

I worry that this storyline isn't going to be finished before the mid-season break. I don't need a goddamn cliffhanger of this **** for an extended period of time!!!!!!!!!

This season is so ****ing good.

AMC Orders Pilots From ‘Nikita’ & ‘Breaking Bad’ Producers

“Halt & Catch Fire” comes from “Breaking Bad” executive producer Mark Johnson. The potential series would take place during the ‘80s as the personal computer movement swept the country. The story will reportedly be told through the perspective of “a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time.”

“Nikita” executive producer Craig Silverstein and Barry Josephson are behind “Turn,” a period drama set during 1778 and it is based upon Alexander Rose’s novel, “Washington’s Spies.” “Turn” will follow Abe Woodhull, a farmer in New York who brings together a group of his childhood friends to become an unlikely team of spies against the British during the War for Independance.

As for AMC’s other shows, the fate of “Hell on Wheels” is up in the air until a new showrunner is chosen and the network is said to be negotiating with Netflix about co-producing a third season of “The Killing.”

No thoughts on The Walking Dead?

I definitely was not expecting Daryl and Merle to end up where they did.

Michonne stabbing the Governor in the eye & putting her sword through his daughters head was awesome.

Why does it seem like when a new black dude is introduced the current one has to die?

Carl is becoming a stone cold bad ass

I'm gonna be PISSED if Daryl is killed off.

It, like Boardwalk Empire, was kind of a letdown from the buildup of the couple episodes leading in. Like Tyreese, but that was a cup'o'coffee...didn't really get much time. I felt really bad for Oscar. He was a good guy and a great addition, even had some personality with the slippers scene from last episode. Seems kind of disturbing that the group cannot have 2 black men at the same time. Oscar comes along...T-Dog is zombie chow. Tyreese enters, Oscar exits. I know it's not intentional but still.

As far as Darryl and Merle...BOO. They screwed the pooch on that one if you ask me. The thing we were all looking forward to was the division between loyalty and family. Now, they have pretty much set it up as Merle will most likely sacrifice himself to save his little brother. Not a huge fail...but a misstep nonetheless.

So...the Gov gets his eyepatch in the best scene of the night. That was almost unwatchable as he was hugging the twice dead corpse of Penny...WITH A JAGGED SHARD OF GLASS STICKING OUT OF HIS EYE!!!!!. Ugh. Eye violence!!!! All in all not really the cliffhanger I think we were all expecting. Not a disappointment, just kind of a letdown after the last 2(especially last weeks which I rewatched, and that scene where Carol almost wordlessly gets the update on all the things she missed was so freaking good. Just great work).

Walking Dead's Kirkman explains shocking mid-season cliffhanger | Blastr

Kirkman joked to The Hollywood Reporter that they might just use the same trick from the season-three premiere and jump ahead a few months and let fans figure it out along the way:

"You mean jump ahead like two months to after Daryl is already dead and have him dealing with the fact that he was killed by Merle in front of all those people, and just kind of see what the aftermath of all that is? Well I don't know, it's possible (laughs)"

...It certainly seems like an inescapable situation, right? There are people all around them; they're facing each other; the Governor is calling for their death. I'm really happy that we're ending the midseason finale with that. It's going to be very difficult for viewers to stop biting their nails over the course of Christmas and New Year's leading to what's coming back in February but we wanted Daryl and Merle to interact and to see what their relationship is. This is the most intense, interesting way to go about that."

Mazzara said they'll address the aftermath of the cliffhanger quickly once the show resumes Feb. 10, 2013, and seemed to be hinting that they may survive (but, this being The Walking Dead, who knows?):
"People will come back and be very satisfied. They're going to get answers to their questions. We've done the time jump and it's a lot to leave people with such a big cliffhanger for the season, so I'll say it'll certainly be worth the wait and people will be right back into things when we come back in February...

The question is not only can they make it out alive but then where do they go? What happens when Merle and Daryl are reunited and where do they go? How can Merle ever try to fit in at the prison? What is the pressure he would put on Daryl? So there's a lot of interesting story to be told."

It really looked like they were setting it up for the Governor to have Darryl and Merle fight to the death, but that's something for an 80's action cartoon - a tad too hokey for AMC.

I have to admire how their willingness to kill relatively important characters made the escape very tense. I was worried Maggie was going to take a bullet every time they showed her.

I guess Oscar really would have survived longer if he had sided with his fellow former prisoner.

Michonne vs. the Governor was awesomely brutal, especially the glass, even if I saw it coming. Doesn't Michonne know to stab for the throat, though?

what's with the revolving door of black actors? I don't understand why they can't have more than one black guy at a time. Oscar was awesome.

Glenn gets more badass every episode. I wish I had a fraction of his resourcefulness. the bone shiv was awesome.

I used to hate Carl (like everyone else), but he turned into a bad mother****er and I love it.

I'm really not a fan of the cliffhanger with Merle and Daryl either. that's not how I wanted them to be reunited AT ALL. from the preview, you can pretty much tell Daryl escapes, but I can't even imagine what the backlash would be like if anything happened to him.

Michonne vs. the Governor was fantastic and disgusting. The Gov holding Penny's body and wailing with a shard of glass in his eye was just especially icky and awesome. Andrea and her somehow never-ending supply of bobby pins are killing me. I'd love to see her redeem herself a bit by doing something to save Daryl.

either way, I'm really, really excited for the rest of this season. it's been fantastic so far.

AMC Picks Up Alex Winter's Militia Pitch - Deadline.com

EXCLUSIVE: Alex Winter has sold his Midwestern militia pitch to AMC. The former Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure star will pen the hour-long drama with his writing partner Steven Pearl. Tentatively titled Rights Of Bill, the show centers on a Sheriff who forms his own militia in Wisconsin, becoming both the law and an outlaw simultaneously.

Now if I could just get my damned FREAKED blu-ray.

THE WALKING DEAD 3.08 'Made to Suffer' | CraveOnline

We’re meant to think that the Governor is angry at Merle for lying to him about Michonne’s death and that’s why he thinks that Merle betrayed him to Rick’s group. But I don’t believe that for a second. I think that the Governor and Merle are playing a long con. At some point, Daryl and Merle will probably be allowed to escape in the hopes of getting Merle inside the prison as the Governor’s spy.

Of course, that’s just a theory. Either way, it should be fun to see how the Dixon boys get out of this one.

OOOOh damn...I wish I had thought of that.
