All Things:AMC television

Jamie Anne Allman & Derek Wilson Join ‘Preacher'

Jamie Anne Allman (The Killing) and Derek Wilson (Rectify) have joined the adaptation in recurring roles. Allman and Wilson will play Betsy and Donny Schenck, respectively. The announcement notes that Donny is an abusive husband and Civil War re-enactor who "gets into altercations with Jesse Custer."

Hmm. Not too many recurring characters who get into altercations with Jesse in the comics. Maybe one of the people that work for Quincannon?

This is gonna be a LOT different from the comics. I guess it makes sense to flesh things out considering it's a very finite storyline. I still have optimism for the whole thing, but I am adjusting to the idea that it will not be a note for note adaptation. Still not cast...Herr Starr, Saint of Killers, Jesse's 'family'...I really hope that, like Walking Dead(which this is going to have similarities to as far as changes to canon) they get someone like Greg Nicotero to work hand in hand with making the shows more wet/horror moments as meaningful as the comics versions.

Very true. If the hope is that this show can go on for a good length of time, there are certainly some things that are going to have to be altered/added.

I'm finally sitting down to binge watch Better Call Saul, and it all starts with the Ink Spots!!! I am so overjoyed, I had to pause to post this, and I seriously thought I should just let the song play, turn off the show, and guarantee happiness; but, of course, the show has so many stamps of approval from trusted friends, so the binge will continue…

So, yeah, I know I'm late to the party and all, but this is twice now in the last month I've binge watched a program and been upset at the end that I couldn't watch the next one. So, three things I enjoy deeply outside of Better Call Saul that were referenced in season 1 (by order of appearance):

1. The Ink Spots in the first episode
2. All That Jazz in the second episode
3. Repo Man in the final episode

PREACHER: Seth Rogen Tweet Confirms That Shooting is Underway
http://collider.com/preacher-seth-rogen-tweet-confirms-shooting-production-begins/

It’s happening, people! Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon‘s classic graphic novel series, Preacher, is officially underway under the direction of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the duo behind Pineapple Express and the script for Superbad. Rogen took to Twitter to announce the news, offering a shot of a filled-out clapperboard with Preacher graphics adorning it. It’s great news for one of the most highly anticipated television events currently in production, and there’s the added benefit of a second, more minor reveal concerning the forthcoming pilot, as the “Camera” line notes that the great cinematographer Bill Pope will be shooting the pilot for Rogen and Goldberg.

For those who don’t know the name, Pope has been one of the most inventive and distinct directors of photography to work regularly in Hollywood over the last three decades or so. He shoots regularly for Sam Raimi, Edgar Wright, and the Wachowski siblings, but has also done some fascinating, stylish work in Jake Kasdan‘s Zero Effect, the immortal Clueless, and proved a crucial collaborator on Team America: World Police. Pope has a reputation as a master of enriching gaudy spectacles with perfectly balanced and timed camera movements, and an expert’s sense of light and framing; he’s an artist who understands size and depth within compositions deeply, which is likely why he was hired for Team America.

If nothing else, Preacher will be fascinating for showing how Rogen, Goldberg, and Pope envision the Southern Gothic environs of the source material, the desolate landscapes churned up and ripped up from under by a series of dark, violent events caused by supernatural agents of good and evil. With Pope at the camera, and a script by Rogen, Goldberg, and Breaking Bad‘s Sam Catlin, Preacher very well may end up being the most visually cinematic series to hit the small screen since House of Cards premiered.

Preacher is set for release in 2016 on AMC. Check out Rogen’s tweet below:

I can’t believe we are ****ing doing this!!!! #Preacher pic.twitter.com/PR0LjZD8wh

PREACHER: Seth Rogen Unveils First Look at Jesse Custer and Arseface

Jesse Custer Will Smoke In “Preacher”
http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3347081/jesse-custer-will-smoke-preacher/

TAKE THAT CONSTANTINE.

Look, being faithful to a character is NOT glorifying smoking. If you think it's COOL when someone smokes on tv, and you decide to emulate it, what do you do when you see rape, criminal acts, murder? If you are too stupid to seperate the two, then please, watch more shows that depict suicide.*

*before the complaints come...I am using suicide as an extreme reference. I mean no disrespect to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide, and apologize in advance.
