All Things:AMC television

Nicotero: "...the Sixteen Candles birthday dinner scene that I specifically choreographed like Sixteen Candles."
He suddenly got an out of nowhere idea to channel an iconic 80's movie scene? Stranger things have happened, I suppose. ?\_(ツ)_/?

So...Humans. I truly enjoyed the second season. Uneven as hell, but it whipped things up considerably and sets up season 3 very nicely. HOWEVER...Amc burnt the last few episodes in a rush. Can't find confirmation of the show's fate...but I did read that it lost over 60% of the moderate ratings that it had in season 1.
Normally, that would be death...but this is one of those shows, like Ripper Street/Taboo, where the production costs are split. In this case, with BBC. And, apparently the show pulls good ratings on home turf. So...it may either find a new home, or maybe just becomes a BBC property. Either way...I would like to see more. I'll keep an eye open and let you know.

Noticed the last few weeks 2 hour episodes. The worst part of this season was the contestant in your face synth/human romances. Felt forced.

Like the show, hope they don't cancel it. Wonder how different the show will be when it does come back after what happened in the finale.

Did everyone give up on TWD, or is it just so underwhelming that it's not worth typing about anymore?
or both?

so....Rick's group goes to Oceanside to say "we're taking your guns whether you like it or not". Dwight all of a sudden wants to join Rick's team.

Eugene feels safer with the Saviors, and implores Sasha to take the same stance.

Are we seeing a reversal of team roles here?

It is what it is. Not bad enough for people to stop watching...but it's getting there. And despite the overall cheapness/lousiness of the entire product, Jeffrey Dean Morgan continues to steal the show. I seriously keep waiting for him to break into a song and dance. That would be cool.

Last night's episode was quite good; it really helped that they actually spent time with multiple groups of characters. Lame of them to skip Sasha getting captured, but her material with Negan and with Eugene was very good. Not sure if Eugene is just doing what he needs to in order to survive (as comfortably as possible), or if he really does plan on totally siding with Negan to keep those comforts. Sasha most certainly is not on Negan's side; she was trying to con Eugene into giving her a weapon to kill him with.

Dwight turned because going with Negan ended up costing him his wife forever, not for giggles.

Rick ran a great distraction plan on the Oceanside group, even if he should not have sent Tara alone and the Oceanside people probably should have had more than two fighters who did not flee from the explosion. The well coordinated defense against the walkers worked very well to show that Rick's crew is quite an effective force and I am very pumped to see that turned on the Saviors. Also, Carol in kingdom armor with an assault rifle.

Just don't kill Trevor Phillips this early.

The big problem with Into The Badlands is that the first season aired so long ago I have no idea who half the people are and can't remember 90% of what happened. And it is ridiculous the number of random red shirts who die, especially in fights where the other side has zero casualties, while none of the characters with names can ever get killed. And the main guy is bland and the two whiny younger guys are even more annoying than the young girl's haircut. But good, fun fights, especially the Thunderdome battle at the start of the second episode.

Well, depends on the people. I gave up on it a few seasons ago when I realized the exact same plot line simply got recycled: bad guys appear as the group's rivals and some sort of new hope arises. The bad guys get defeated, the hope gets extinguished. Rinse, repeat. The best thing about the show was its originality. That's been gone for years.

No comments on the Season Finale of TWD? Time for the real fun to begin. This whole season was a setup for the games ahead.

Still never understood how dumb it was for Ricks group to trust complete strangers. They would have been better off with fewer people and then the truck would have exploded and the battle would have gone differently.

Stupid is as stupid does I guess. It does get old as a viewer as just seems far fetched. As like the first meeting where they could have taken out Negan with one shot. I guess this crap is what turns viewers off. Certainly better than the crappy cliffhanger last season.

I am staying as I follow the comics and know what is in store and looking forward to it.

Now looking forward to BCS I am a day behind so will watch it tomorrow night. I am excited as really liked the first two seasons.

Into the badlands I just am struggling to find my interest. Still don't get how there are no guns yet have power and cars and other modern inventions. Also not a big fan of unrealistic fight sequences where no human could perform the stunts they are doing. They are not superheroes so why does this Martial arts style in movies/Tv shows make it so unrealistic. Never really appealed to me. That and the show is very fragmented as we have no clue what have the stuff is or its relevance. I will stick with through the season to see if it gets better.

The part where the other lady in the tower wanted to take the higher spot should have been the dead giveaway it was all a setup.

Finally watched the TWD finale. Was it 25 mins extended just to add 20 mins of commercials?

I felt the writing for most of the ep was just 'meh'. If there were 3 writers credited did they each write a storyline and then say: just mash that together.

Some of the story points and double-crosses were just too unbelievable. Who left the statue hiding in the gate for Darryl? Other D? And how did they manage that?

I know AMC wants to ride this money train forever, but I would announce next season as the final season. The drop in quality is noticeable over the past 3-4 seasons.
