All Things:Fx

At least the previews for next week showed the vamp killers again.

Ratkiller is awesome. So don't kill him off please.

But I fear with just a couple episodes left its just gonna be one big cliffhanger and we'll end up right where we were 3 episodes ago.

Yeah, pretty much. I mean, I think they are gonna have a fairly big 'event' happen as the cliffhanger, but this show is based on one long story broken into 3 books. I don't expect the tv show to break that formula.

mini binged on the last 3 outta four of YOU'RE THE WORST. Such a great show. Kinda a vacant American version of SPACED(for all the right and wrong reasons that implies). Edgar and the whore-y chick totally help sell the show. Sadly bad ratings are likely gonna kill it...but Fx oughtta give it another go. Such a good show.

The Strain Season One Finale Recap: "The Master"

Mixed bag all around. Too much hunting with very little drama. I think they need to tighten it up in s2. I guess the 'good' vamps were in the books, just a little more scarcely distributed. That was the always terrific Stephen McHattie (Pontypool...just see it already so I can stop forcing it on you) as the 'leader' of the pack by the way. I love the design of the master...but he has some big scenes in the future with a lot of dialogue, worried about that a bit.

Good call I had trouble understanding a bunch of his dialogue. so after all that we are about where we started. Aside from a vampire who can move somewhat in sunlight (where have we seen that before), they still just have to regroup and hunt the master again. At least the vampire turf war is a new storyline? (Humans caught in the middle?) but the Latino guy taking a job could've happened way earlier

American Horror Story Spinoff American Crime Story Ordered by FX

Whaaaaaaat???????

Though HBO opted not to move forward with his sexual drama series Open, the Ryan Murphy empire is continuing to expand regardless. FX has given a straight-to-series order for a companion series to Murphy’s wildly popular horror anthology American Horror Story. This new show, American Crime Story, will apply the anthology conceit to some of the biggest true crime stories in history, and the first season will start things off with a bang. The 10-episode first season of ACS will be called American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson. More after the jump.

american-horror-story-freak-show-posterFX announced today that American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson will be based on the book The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin. As with his previous shows, Murphy will direct, but the script for the first two episodes were written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (The People Vs. Larry Flynt) instead of by Murphy and his producing/writing partner Brad Falchuk. It’s unclear if Murphy is directing all 10 hours or just the first two.

This first season will tell the story of the O.J. Simpson trial from the point of view of the lawyers, exploring “the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s black community gave a journey what it needed: reasonable doubt.”

Murphy will executive produce the series with his AHS co-creator Brad Falchuk as well as Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Dante Di Loreto, and Alexander & Kraraszewski, with filming set to begin early next year in Los Angeles. This move comes as Murphy’s Fox’s series Glee is entering its final season, so one imagines he’ll be able to juggle acting as showrunner on American Crime Story along with American Horror Story. Moreover, FX has to be happy that they now have another addition to the AHS brand to air. It’ll certainly be interesting to see which true crime stories American Crime Story tackles in the future, but the O.J. Simpson trial will no doubt make for an ambitious first season.

Did NO ONE watch AHS Freak Show???? I know I have a tendency to wax, and this is something that I probably loved before I saw it, but man...so good. They wisely tried to capture Todd Browning's FREAKS vibe and, with just enough of a unique stamp, they did. Great effects mixed in with actual 'freaks'. I loved everything about it, from Jessica Lange channeling Bernadette Peters to Kathy Bates' Fargo/Dutch accent. Oh, and the clown. Wow. Despite a scene that looked far too Zodiac for my liking, the clown is very much nightmare inducing as they promised. I don't know where they are gonna go, and, as always, the fear is that the ending won't satisfy, but one episode in...this has soooooo much potential it's frightening. Come on people...we should ALLLLLLLL be watching this.

How did that work out Adgy?

Sh_tfire, friends, neighbors and Time Warner Cable subscribers, guess what we got now? Rhymes with FxNow.

Oh, and the Cabaret meets Electric Light Orchestra musical interlude in A/H/S was sweet too.
