For the last two seasons, "Archer" has been the lone animated series on FX. But when it returns in January for a third season, it won't be alone any longer.
FX has officially ordered a thirteen episode season for "Unsupervised," a new animated comedy from Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby; all of whom write and produce FX's signature comedy series "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia." The series follows two best friends, Gary and Joel as they optimistically face the rigors of teenage life without any parents around to tell them what to do.
"Unsupervised" also boasts an impressive cast, with Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Romany Malco, Fred Armisen, Kaitlin Olson and Alexa Vega all on board to provide vocals for the show.
“Having worked with David, Rob and Scott for many years on Sunny, it gives us great pleasure to see them make their own stamp on FX,” said Nick Grad, FX's Vice President of Original Series. “Unsupervised is a great addition to our comedy roster and, like all of our comedies, it’s smart and really funny.”
"Archer" Executive Producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson will oversee the animation of "Unsupervised," while Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton's "RCG Productions and Floyd County will produce the series alongside FX.
With the latest pickup of "Unsupervised," FX will now have six comedies in its lineup of original programming including "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia," "Archer," "The League," "Wilfred" and "Louie."
Thus far, no art work from the new series was released, but with "Unsupervised" set to debut in four months, that should change quickly.
