All Things:Fx

The Americans look great. Also want to check out Justified. The commercials looked good that they ran during Sons.

Uncle Mitchy...I do not know why Justified is NOT on netflix, but you have to check out the prior seasons. Season 1 was a lot of individual stories, but 2 and 3 are(especially 2) are some damned fine examples of seasonal story telling. Great characters and some awesome tough guy dialogue...really outstanding. And Walton Goggins is unbelievable. One part snake and one part snakecharmer.

I love that fickle beast!

Press Tour 2013 Live-Blog: FX Executive Session with John Landgraf

truly the BEST exec in tv...and here's some reason why

Question about giving showrunners freedom and not running into AMC's current showrunner issues. He thinks the most important thing is setting up a trusting collaborative relationship. "That can't be a passive relationship," he emphasizes, noting that he hasn't had any showrunners he hasn't had conflicts with, but the network hasn't fired any showrunner in the network's history. He's proud of that history. "In terms of how we relate to these people and also, ultimately how we compensate them, we try really, really hard to have them continue," Landgraf says. He says this is important in terms of how shows continue and conclude. What does that mean in terms of "Walking Dead" with its myriad showrunners? "It looks to me that AMC managed to make a very successful transition," he says of the Frank-to-Glenn transition and "It remains to be seen if they can pull that feat off again."

Anyone notice his very memorable few moments in Lincoln?? Mr. Goggins does seem like the "next big acting thing" if he wants it ...

was real good in Django too...my sister's boyfriend used to work with him in a cowboy boot store before he got the part in Shanghai Noon, said he was a good guy. He will always be Shane from The Shield to me though.

Great story! Love hearing these kinds of things.

Don't you mean Cletus Van Dam?

TV Bits: ‘It’s Always Sunny’, ‘Community’, ‘Happy Endings’, ‘Dexter’, ‘Spartacus: War of the Damned’, Louis CK, Bryan Cranston, Rian Johnson, and More | /Film

So much of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia takes place in that bar, so it seems only natural that the TV series is branching out with its own branded booze. California’s Stone Brewing Co. has teamed up with Illinois’ Two Brothers Brewing Co. and Chicago’s Aleman for Dayman Coffee IPA, named after the song Charlie writes in the Season 3 episoe “Sweet Dee’s Dating a Retarded Person.”

The drink will debut sometime in March. Between this and the Game of Thrones-themed Ommegang Iron Throne Blonde Ale, is TV-inspired craft beer going to be the next big trend? Because that’s one I can get behind. [Paste via AV Club]

Can we start talking on Justified S4 E1 yet???

Personally, although Patton Oswalt's part was more of the same('member the conversation we had Adgy) I think there was enough pushback from him to vary the formula a bit. I am SOOOOOOOOO happy to see Ron Eldard on the show. I have ALWAYS thought he was a good actor who just wound up in **** projects. The scenes he was in with Boyd popped more than the stuff with Raylan. Especially the 'take care of him' bit. I like Arlo and the very interesting DB Cooper type mystery brewing. Damn this is a fine show. Like that the showrunner said that it's gonna be 5 episodes before Boyd and Raylen cross paths. I don't know if the show can survive the loss of Goggins, but there has to be a payoff eventually.

Not all of Eldard's were bad. He was great in Black Hawk Down. Liked him in Super 8 as well.

Attaboy...you are a fan too. His fortuitous appearance bodes very well. I think he and Boyd are gonna be monstrous together. Ghost Ship rocked.

Walton Goggins Talks JUSTIFIED Season 4 and His Great Cameo on SONS OF ANARCHY | Collider

Man. This guy simply kicks ass. AND...he shops at my local Whole Foods!!!!!

Justified...heating up nicely. Like the bareknuckle husband of the barmaid...that should be fun. And the head of the local Dixie Mafia(loved that guy on Dear John) is back too. Just great character work all around. Like them trying to force in backstories for the other two marshalls...a little clutzy, but just goes to show they take character very seriously.

Almost as excited for this as Archer...

Review: Jim Jefferies tries to go Legit in warm new FX comedy

In addition to playing a fictionalized version of himself, Jefferies is also a writer and executive producer on "Legit" (along with Peter O'Fallon and Rick Cleveland), and the show feels very tonally similar to FX's "Wilfred" — and not just because fellow Australians Jefferies and Jason Gann could pass for brothers. Both are comedies in the sense that they're a half-hour long and at times capable of explosive, raunchy humor, but they're more interested in watching their main characters learn how to be men. There are good jokes (particularly in the premiere, the first of three episodes I've seen), but the show is dominated by an unexpected feeling of warmth and generosity. Jim really does want to help Billy, and to be a better person, even if his intentions are always undercut by his approach and ego.

Jefferies, a more popular comic in real life than he is on the show, has a cocky, scruffy appeal — imagine Ricky Gervais as a David Brent who was sometimes capable of being as charming as he thought he was — and he works well with Bakkedahl and Qualls. And Billy is a great role for Qualls, who's been bouncing around showbiz since "Road Trip," an odd duck Hollywood never knows quite what to do with, even though everyone knows they want to do something with him. Jim is the protagonist, but Billy is more than just his charity project. He has needs and desires and flaws, and he really does like Jim beyond seeing him as a useful tool.

By design, "Legit" isn't as consistently funny as some other FX comedies like "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," but it nicely occupies that border between comedy and drama that have become home to both "Wilfred" and "Louie." It's a charming series that feels like it has a lot of potential for growth, and not just because its main character has nowhere to go but up.

Yeah, Wynn (sp?) Duffie is probably my favorite non-Raylan or Boyd character. Was very excited to see him again.

I did like last week's episode of Justified. Was awesome seeing Patton Oswalt on there. Didn't see last night's yet. Have it on the DVR. Monkey was too tired to stay up.
