All Things:Fx

Coven ending sucked major monkey balls! Before the Christmas break, it was awesome. After, the writers got lazy.

I f I am not mistaken, you disliked ASYLUM. This...was not as good as that. But, despite some sidetracking, was a very solid season. Those that deserved...were punished. And some who didn't too. Too much dead/not dead, and PRECIOUS was horrible...but it was an enjoyable trip. Danny Huston...nicely done, especially in such a female-centric season.

John Scalzi’s ‘Star Trek’ Parody ‘Redshirts’ To Become FX Limited Series

Things are about to get spacey over at FX. John Scalzi’s comedic sci-fi adventure Redshirts, last year’s Hugo Award winner for Best Novel, is being developed as a limited series for the acclaimed cable network.

Ken Kwapis, a veteran television (The Office, The Bernie Mac Show) and feature film (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, He’s Just Not That Into You) producer and director will oversee development of Redshirts alongside film producer Jon Shestack (Air Force One, Dan in Real Life) and his partner Alexandra Beattie, according to Deadline. The trio will serve as executive producers on the new series, with Kwapis lined up to direct the pilot episode. The project is currently out to writers to help adapt the novel for television. Kwapis and Beattie most recently developed the prospective Showtime series Happyish, but its future is in doubt following the unexpected death of its star Philip Seymour Hoffman on February 2, 2014.

Redshirts, according to Deadline, “follows the adventures of five new recruits on the Starship Intrepid who come to realize that the ship’s crewmembers are dying at an alarming rate.” They discover that their reality has been warped with that of a sci-fi TV show and are forced to follow that show’s narrative. Kwapis said of the novel’s concept, “If Jorge Luis Borges had been a staff writer on the original Star Trek, he would no doubt have concocted a story like Redshirts.”

Anyone remotely familiar with Star Trek lore knows the term “red shirts” refers to the anonymous and expendable crew members who are often the first – and only – to die in an episode. Redshirts has garnered much acclaim for author Scalzi and the concept brings to mind classic irreverent treatments of classic sci-fi as Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy franchise and the beloved British comedy series Red Dwarf. The names attached to this project thus far have solid track records in their chosen professions, so with the right cast and creative team, Redshirts could be a hilarious and loving mockery of a genre whose popularity continues to rise on both the big and small screens.

Coven was awesome. Now stop sucking my balls.

Like I said, before the Christmas break, it was awesome. After, the writers realized they only had a handful of episodes left & rushed it. Once again, storylines were rushed such as the witch hunters, feuding houses & papa legba.

I know they are doing a coven spinoff. Maybe that's the reason it ended the way it did. Lame.

Btw, the writers are sucking your balls, not me. :)

HBIC and I didn't mind the ending. Guess it's all perspective.. squirt squirt

You KNEW Ava Crowder wasn't getting off that easy. And Raylen coming clean(apparently) was a nice move. Don't know where it goes, but he and Art have always had a strained, but honest relationship, and the thought that it was bothering Raylen's conscience was important to establish. Although tonight they could just sidetrack it, in that case...NEVERMIND.

Good episode of Justified, why the 2 week wait for the next one? 3 weeks for Archer too. That I get, they are probably behind on the animation because of all the old backgrounds getting dumped. Far as Justified goes...hellafun watching Rappaport almost overdo it. Didn't see a lot of the twists in this episode coming. Feel bad for Ava. Should I though? She has done some bad shtuff to get herself where she is. And the Raylen/Art stuff is damned good. I just wish they would do more with Tim/Rachel because they shine when they get a chance. Two weeks though...damnit.

As much as I am enjoying this season of Justified....

SPOILERS

...I am puzzled by some of the decisions that are being made with characters. What was the point of even introducing the Haitian character? He seemed like he was going to be interesting and have an interesting role and he was just kind of... tossed aside to show what a loose canon the one Crow brother is. What was the point of what seemed like an interesting subplot with the Chamber Of Commerce guy's foreign wife? That seemed like it was going to go somewhere and then he just gives her money to someone else and tells her to **** off. It just seems like something is a little off. Maybe it'll pay off later?

Having said all that, though, I still love the show and it's still my favorite. I love the work the supporting cast is doing especially.

With everything that's happening to Raylan, I'm expecting a really dark final season.

Agree with you about Baptiste' but I dunno...the whole Florida clan has been kind of stereotypical goofballs. I was wondering where the Crow family was going to factor in at all until last week. It's a great season because both Raylen and Boyd are on spiralling descents. Raylen's is a little more subtle and he has more the illusion of control while EVERYONE is out to get Boyd and he keeps having to comprimise himself in order to survive. Funny thing, I have more faith in Boyd to come out on top. Nick Searcy has been doing terrific work without even saying anything most times. The scenes between he and Alan Tudyk(who was gone WAY too soon...what a great heavy but is that a surprise?) were fun to watch. As usual Adgy...everything on this show has a payoff. Watch the youngest Crow, I think he is gonna factor in. We will see at the end of the season, but Justified rarely disappoints.

Couldn't agree more. I do have faith.

I went to set my dvr for a new episode of Legit Wednesday night (at least according to my TV guide), and saw a new Ali G show on after it?
