All Things:Fx

Justified was pretty good last night. Love how Walton Goggins' character always gets out of what seems like deadly situations.

I enjoyed it as well, but there was something that bothered me about it.

SPOILERS

Ok, the guy who came into the Marshal's office to complain about his money being stolen. Are we meant to believe that he couldn't tell the site was fake, but he was still somehow able to track down the person who ran the site? Remember, the marshals were only able to track it down to the one legged guy because their tech "nerd" traced it. How the hell did the money-loser guy find him? I don't know. Maybe he hired the muscle guy to do it. Maybe he hired someone we didn't see to do it and they just skipped over that part. It still kind of struck me as lazy, though. In previous seasons, I don't think they would have let that slide.

Anyway.

I did enjoy the show a lot. Gonna miss Cousin Johnny, but that scene was pretty great. I get the feeling that things are only going to get worse for Raylan as the series continues. Wouldn't be surprised at all if before the end of next season he's either on the other side of the law or, at least, not an active part of law enforcement.

I just watched and I think, since backgammon guy knew who owned/operated the site(the guy who's house Raylen was staying in) it's not a leap to think a)he might have known who his it guy was or b)he could have found out. It is Kentucky after all and I don't get the feeling we are talking mastermind criminal empire here. Why are you down on the show Adgy? You seem really cynical this season. Has it been AS good as past seasons, maybe not...but it ain't over yet. And this show tends to be better judged as a full season.
Gonna miss Cousin Johnny too. I'm sure he got a kinder death than Boyd was planning. I do think that Boyd's multiplying problems have gotten to be a little much at this point. Almost feel like the show is taking him down a peg between ineptitude and folks making fun of his wall to wall smile and/or verbose nature. And Raylen is rudderless right now too. Really curious to see just how far down they both get before this is all over. One thing...gotta figure it ain't gonna end happily for Ava, and that could be the hammer that really shatters old Boyd and just sets him loose. I keep saying it, but watch the kid. He is definitely going to factor in to how this all shakes loose. Everyone and everything is kind of scattered right now which I think is maybe why it feels off. Hopefully by the end of this season and heading into the final one next year they pull everything back and have the nice tight focus that has served so well in the past.

I was a little burned out on the whole redneckian aspect of the show at the beginning, but there has been so much genius maneuvering and great lines, I stopped caring about that. I'd like a few more of Raylan's tricks, but that is probably coming. I really liked Boyd's cousin and was kind of rooting for him. It is a testament to Walton Goggins' skills that he makes Boyd's continued amazing survivals not reach Untouchable Villain Syndrome (T-Bag, Sylar), which is one of my huge annoyances. The Ava in prison storyline needs to wrap up, even if it is with her death, but I suspect mini-prison guard has to return first.

Aw crap...just looked up Mr. Yoon from Justified on IMDB because he looks so familiar...

ANDO from Heroes. Crap, that show got so bad that I mentally blocked out one of the best characters.

I don't want to make it sound like I'm down on the show or the season as a whole. It just seems like there are small things coming up that strike me as weird and/or potentially lazy. It's not having a serious impact on how much I ****ing LOVE this show. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt about stuff like the foreign widow and see if that comes back to mean something.

I can see both Raylan and Boyd being down deep. And just like your theory about Eva, I wonder if something is also going to happen to/with Raylan's daughter and/or ex-wife. It seems unlikely that the series will end happily for either of them, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended with the two of them at the end of their rope and in some sort of desperate, violent struggle with each other that ends with one of them (probably Boyd) dead.

But the series has been able to surprise me every season, so maybe I'm way off.

I haven't watched last night's Justified, but how awesome was it to see William Forsythe show up the previous week? Only a small role, but that guy rules. He should be in more stuff.

Yeah, Forsythe...Eric Roberts...if Michael Madsen strolls through a scene they can complete the set. Adgy, you wanna see a cool Forsythe performance(and a fun/underated flick) check out Things to do in Denver When You're Dead. It's the Exendables of character actors.

LOUIE Season 4 Premieres May 5th on FX; Will Air Two New Episodes a Week for Seven Weeks | Collider

Here’s the press release:

LOS ANGELES, March 13, 2014 – Louie’s back!!! After a 19-month hiatus, television’s most-critically acclaimed comedy series Louie will make its season four debut on Monday, May 5 at 10:00 PM E/P, and FX will air two all new episodes of the Emmy Award winning show back-to-back every Monday at 10:00 and 10:30 PM E/P for seven consecutive weeks through June 16, announced John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks and FX Productions.

FX ordered 13 episodes for the series fourth season, but Creator/Executive Producer/Writer/Star/Director/Editor Louis C.K. delivered a bonus 14th episode.

“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because – even though Louie was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America – he needed to make it even better,” said Landgraf. “Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably, he accomplished his goal.”

My opinion, if Fx really wanted to cement the future of FxX, which is supposed to be their comedy wing(while the parent station is the 1 hr drama stable) there is no better way to do it than to put LOUIE there. I trust Landgraf...but I think it's a missed opportunity.

By the way, is anyone besides me watching Chozen? Yeah...the prison sex aspect of the show is a little MUCH sometimes, but for some weird reason I kinda like this show. Just kinda charming in a crude way. And Legit is so tonally weird, but Jim Jefferies is so schlubby, and the rest of the cast is perfect...love love love Legit.

Are they even putting new shows on that channel? It seems like every time I see an ad for a new FX show, it just says FX. I don't remember seeing FXX on the George Lopez ads or the Legit ones. Is it there and I'm just not seeing it?
