The Strain Recap Season 1 Episode 5, "Runaways"

“Runaways” was The Strain‘s best episode yet, because it finally raised the stakes (no pun intended) and set the stage for what is to come (in fact, you could argue it’s already definitely here). The show has had some trouble believably stretching out its early exposition, but at the very least it’s had monsters and frights to tide viewers over while the plot figured itself out. In “Runaways,” though, it double-downed on the monsters, and finally brought them into the light (in a manner of sp

Sad sad day today. Wilfred ends tonight. Thank you for 3 seasons of really good tv to all inviolved. You will be missed.

The last episode of The Bridge was ****ing awesome!

Dunno. Found it kinda lacking. Was disappointed that they killed the prosecutor/Da. Was kinda obvious. Lillard's 'resignation' was pretty sweet though. And the cleft shoulder shots...Guess it was pretty good after all.

As far as Tyrant goes, am I the only one who pities Jamal?

Married is hard to watch. They are terrible people and horrible parents. I have a **** opinion of marraiage but this show is too bleak even for my worldview. I like the dad though so I am gonna try to stick with it. Paul Reiser was surprisingly effective in the last episode. But really, everyone is so unlikeable

You're the Worst. Wow. I really thought I would be writing something similar to the above about that. But for a show about supposedly awful people(and they are kinda) it's surprisingly sweet. The supporting cast of the 2 best friends REALLY helps. Nice little show, quickly becoming a favorite.

The Strain is really picking up now that they are getting into the action and really unleashing the monsters(which I think are pretty effective given the limitations of tv).

The Bridge was cool. She took it to that guy with the ax. the sonya "i'm not your girlfriend" storyline is so weird, and disturbing. Lillard's quitting job was fantastic. He and his reporter friend are in a serious heap of trouble though..

The strain was pretty good. How quickly did you know the 2 FBI guys were going to eat it.

Now that there's been pretty graphic killing out in the open, the public has to be fully aware there's a monster epidemic right? I love the pest control guy and want him to start kicking a$$

Oh yeah...you are gonna like him. A LOT.

I also really liked the part where Marco and Sonya killed those cops. It seems like things are starting to heat up and things are going to get ****ed up. Soon.

I'm curious about the body Sonya's not-boyfriend uncovered based on his brother's drawings. And that he didn't say anything about it to Sonya. Dude's up to something.

Matthew Lillard is so good.

I took it that the brain damaged paintings were some sort of treasure map that the brother is following. Not sure how that explains the body...

And I said it all last season...Lillard and the intrepid gal reporter could use their own show. Always liked Lillard(see 13 Ghosts and even Shaggy) but he really has never been better. Emmy love????

you knew at some point sonya was going to be dragged into the "not so safe" proceedings that Marco is involved in. How she responds, and how deep she stays by his side, will be interesting to see

Gonna be interesting to see just how comprimised Marco is. While he isn't fully in the pocket of Fausto Galvan there is certainly something there. Keep waiting to see how the two gringos and the farmhand will factor in too.

he still kind of seems like the anti-hero to me. Like he's in with fausto galvan but at the same time has some underlying respect for and would do whatever necessary to protect sonya (for now)

Well he brings that stink of corruption that the entire Mexican police force has. It's like the police captain said, when the bullets fly, even if you duck, you can get shot(or something to that effect). At some point Marco is gonna be forced to chose a side of the line to straddle.
