To an extent, Wilfred too. Look, like I said, FxX needs some guidance. And Legit suffered horribly by being stranded there. So...yeah. They let Wilfred close out their storyline, and Landgraf is still apologizing for Terriers. They can't save em all...especially when the ratings are non existent. I am beginning to think Terriers played out exactly as it should have. The arc and the ending of it are just brilliant.
 
Terriers had a beginning and an ending and was completely awesome (minus one weak early episode and the fact that too much of the format was copied over from Veronica Mars, including having one weak early episode), so I can live with its death. I do need FX to go back to its roots and make something in the Shield / Rescue Me / Justified mold and not try to be so high concept all the time though.
 
Holee Crap Justified. Talk about going out in a blaze o'glory. Hell, they are scorching the earth and dragging it in with them. Just stellar work all around. Two left and I just know they are gonna bring it on home in grand style.

I don't want to say it was the best episode of TV I've ever watched, but it did make me stop a minute and think about it.

I was almost tempted to say that this was the tightest and best scripted season...but the Margo Martindale one just looms as such a high water mark.

BTW...does Art look sickly to anyone else. I certainly hope Nick Searcy is ok.
 
Sooo, you're all saying "Justified" is worth checking out? He. I watched the pilot of "The Americans" yesterday, that looked pretty good. I might get into it.

In its fourth season, Louis CK‘s excellent, experimental, auteur FX series Louie reached new artistic heights. Louie is a show that has always been good, yet also finds ways to get consistently better. Last season’s “So Did the Fat Lady” was one of Louie‘s most lauded episodes for the time and voice he gave to a powerful, one-off female character, and his run of “Elevator” episodes were a dreamy, surrealistic journey through the strange world he creates so cinematically.

The fifth season of Louie — which will run for only 8 episodes — doesn’t carry over that same tone from Season 4, though, and is far more grounded in its reality. For fans of the last two seasons in particular, it’s a little disappointing, but it’s easy to move on, thanks to the show’s renewed comedic devotion. In fact, it signals that turn from the start by bringing back its title sequence, which as been missing since Season 3.

I was very vocal about just how much I despised last season. So much so that I am not even sure I will watch this. That Comedians show looks good though...bleurgh.
 
That was awesome in every way except that the show ended. Great way to avoid the now-clich?d edgy 'bittersweet' ending without going too far into the niiiice ending territory. I was about to be pissed when I saw the hole in the hat, but hey, great fake-out, and I love how that shootout went. Going back to his own words a week or two before, punk went for the headshot and the smidge of extra time it took allowed Raylan to hit him first in the chest, knocking his aim off just enough when the shot went off. And the way it was shot was magnificent. Also the shot of Markham's last breath.

Loved the unexpected way the Rayland/Boyd showdown actually went. Loved the womenfolk hiding as the final shootout was going down. Loved Loretta stepping in. Loved Art just handing Raylan the badge back earlier. Loved the mysterious almost-absence of Wynn Duffy. Loved Raylan's new hat the most.

Now give me my spinoff with the Marshalls who stayed behind, and Limehouse, and Loretta.

For the moments where he did disturb things in Harlan, Sam Elliot was flawless. His range from being so cool as Raylan sat across the desk from him to putting a gun to Ava’s throat – Christ, Elliot nailed it.
Speaking of guns, the Raylan/Boon showdown was incredible. In the pilot episode, Boyd makes a comment about Raylan wearing his hat too high. This subtle note may have thrown Boon’s aim off, but I think he was a **** shot since he bucked down Loretta’s boyfriend. The duel was shot Sergio Leone style, with cinematic attitude to spare – almost mirroring Boon’s six-shooter fantasy. It’s perfect that Loretta (his “girl”) got the final say in who lives and who dies in the shootout. Looking back over Justified’s many villains, Boon is a striking, mesmerizing standout.

The fact that Raylan snatched Boon’s hat is a subtle homage to the lord Elmore Leonard, who never liked the hat Raylan wore from day one. Leonard thought Givens should wear a smaller hat with a flatter brim. He got his wish in the final episode.

Another thing I have seen wrong in a lot of the recaps...Ava did not get the money, Art took it with him. And they even mentioned 'how far is she gonna get, handcuffed with no money.'

Gonna miss this show. And as much as I feel complete about it, there is always gonna be a chance they could revisit things one last time.
