All Things:HBO/CINEMAX

ouch, has it been that bad? I have them all recorded but I havent watch any yet.

No. It hasn't. The storytelling is almost purposefully off putting. Lots of scenes intentionally drag. But then you get parts that drag you right back in. The dialogue is pretentious, but it mostly works. It is NOT season 1, which was more focused and had the benefit of 2 actors loose/crazy enough to pull it off. But it isn't unwatchable. I'm enjoying it and as long as the conclusion don't screw the pooch I have no regrets.

The third and fourth episodes were lacking a little until the shootout, but the show feels seriously vitalized with the fifth episode. It seems like it is finally going somewhere and it may be done adding to its collection of 500 minor characters. They finally gave Tim Riggins some decent material too.

Very disappointed that Farrell, on his way out after giving that beatdown, didn't say "That was for Jessie!"

I think the biggest problem is the writer's need for overblown pretentious and/or ultra-self-aware speeches. In the first season, it was just Rust delivering them, so it seemed like it was just his character, and Woody was there to react to the ridiculousness of it, so it actually worked. This year, we have multiple characters doing it and it is all being taken seriously.

I agree that the last episode gave the season a much needed jolt. We'll see where it goes from here.

Side note: the scenes of McAdams and Kitch at the end of the episode were shot in Mt Baldy where my lady's mom lives. They even showed the street her house is on. That stuff was shot within the last few months.

Disagree. I'd say that episode was pretty weak. The stakes are so low in this show. And wtf was up with the music during the orgy sequence?

Why didn't she make herself throw up as soon as they were free to walk around, instead of waiting until she was out of her mind? Just ugh. Overall I liked the intensity of this episode, as I was expecting somebody to die at any moment. Best/worst part: The rapist doesn't have red hair and Farrell said, "You don't look like him, either." That was pretty heartbreaking.

I thought the episode was great up until Ray went on his bender. The show went completely off the rails after that. The whole orgy sequence was implausible to an extreme.

THE LEFTOVERS Season 2: Air Date, First Images, and Official Synopsis Revealed
http://collider.com/leftovers-season-2-images-and-official-synopsis-revealed/

After last season’s elaborate Memorial Day initiative by the Guilty Remnant plunged Mapleton into chaos, season two of THE LEFTOVERS finds many searching for a fresh start. Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) has retired from his post as chief of police of Mapleton and is moving his new family to Texas. With him is Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), who’s discovered new purpose in caring for the baby she found on Kevin’s doorstep and welcomes leaving behind Mapleton and the incredible tragedy she suffered there. Equally eager to leave the town she grew up in and the friends she made there is Kevin’s daughter, Jill (Margaret Qualley).

Upon their arrival in Jarden, Texas, the newly formed Garvey family meet their neighbors, the Murphys: John (Kevin Carroll) and Erika (Regina King) and their teenage twins, Evie (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Michael (Jovan Adepo). Attracted to this special town and hoping for miracles for his whole family, Matt Jamison (Christopher Eccleston) has moved with his wife, Mary (Janel Moloney), who still suffers from consequences of the terrible car accident on October 14.

Meanwhile, Kevin’s ex-wife, Laurie Garvey (Amy Brenneman), has left the Guilty Remnant and reunited with her son, Tom (Chris Zylka), who may have finally discovered a cause to help replace the pain in his heart. And while Meg (Liv Tyler) remains in the Guilty Remnant, it may not be the same cult she originally joined.

Well TD was pretty good, but still some unexplainable things that were too convenient to the plot especially at the end.

I agree. Things can be really simplistic and convenient at times. That said, I thought tonight's episode was great.

Pretty good episode tonight. The whole plot is just soooooo damn involved though. I need a flow chart.
