All Things:HBO/CINEMAX

Yeah...it's been picked over pretty bad. I still find it pretty compelling. Maybe its just me...kinda rooting for Frank. Don't think its gonna work out though. I think Mrs. Frank is up to something.

Last night's episode was the first time I found Frank even sort of compelling. I'm totally rooting for him now.

As usual I have no idea what or who they're talking about when they're discussing the case but overall one of the best TD episodes of this season. Maybe because, as mmmcammy said, Frank finally became interesting.

Not ashamed to admit that I read a recap after every episode. Completely lost at times.

I think Mrs. Frank is up to something.

I was thinking this too, but to just drop it in Episode 10 would be horrible storytelling IMHO.

Also since it's had a few days to breathe, spoiler-y, the fact that you-know-who knew exactly where what's-his-name would be exiting still irks me.

I never bought the gay/tortured soul angle with Paul. I feel like the writers treated that secret like it was a bigger issue than it is nowadays. Especially in a big city like LA/Vinci. That's not to say it isn't an issue, but not the way it was treated on the show. It's not a life and death secret which made it difficult to feel scared for him.

Especially after the guy commented about the you-know-whats being everywhere. And why didn't what's-his-name do a sweep with his gun drawn as he exited? He didn't even look the other way .

I'm on the Frank bandwagon. I liked seeing Vince Vaughn finally go all Vince Vaughn on us (I knew he had it in him), and it turns out he honestly thought he gave up the right guy as the rapist. I mean, as far as murderous criminals go, he's not all bad :15smile:.

Finally got caught up today on Fictional Detective. Ep 6 very good, ep 7 great. Really, the one flaw in the first season was the finale, where the killer was introduced pretty much out of nowhere and there was such the clich?d noir showdown. This time, the show is rolling into the ending.

I was hoping when Riggins jumped into the car as they were fleeing the sex party and yelled "Go!" that Velcoro would turn toward him and say "You think?", but no.

Saw that coming at the end. So cliche - win the big battle, get blindsided when you think you are safe. Not sure why he didn't check every angle, or more importantly, why he didn't go back the way he came to get some answers and/or finish off the old black guy. That battle was pretty thrilling, since he actually could have died there.

Totally on board with Frank. I thought I was good at wrapping things up for a vacation, but it turns out I am just an amateur. The key thing he needs to do is to not arrange to leave on a train out of Grand Central Station and have his wife meet him there.

And the best line ever is "Let's go look for the unicorn in the woods". Ewwwwww.

Three things I'd like to see in 20 mins on TD:
- Frank burns everything to the ground.
- Besiredes cuts someone... like one of the corrupt police guys.
- Valcoro gets a resolution with his kid.

Three things I don't want to see:
- Mrs Frank doing a last ep 180.
- Someone magically tracking someone and then jumping out of the shadows guns blazing.
- A funeral and 3 caskets.

Well, TD could've been worse.

Also Ballers is still fun/watchable. Besides the laughs, there's one gut-buster scene every episode.

FICTIONAL DETECTIVE SPOILINGS:

That episode really should have only been an hour, but instead Pizzolatto got to show us how legit he was with the TRIPLE woman-waiting-for-her-man-that-never-comes noir ending (counting last week). Yawn. At least that was one thing he stole from other sources besides James Ellroy. But seriously, one wasn't enough? Two wasn't enough?

Did no one learn from DeNro? "Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner." But hey, let's stop to share a longing look at the fat kid on the way out of town. And way to quit after improving the odds from 5 to 1 into 3 to 1. And way to not try to lose them by driving to a big public place. I would drive straight to South Coast Plaza, ditch the car in one parking structure near the door to the mall, race through the mall to the other parking structure, get picked up by my lady friend.

Lesson number two: When you are on the run, maybe leave a little space between your front bumper and anything in front of you so you have room to maneuver in case someone miraculously finds you in the 5,293,261 streets of LA and tries the old box-in trick.

But hey, I was entertained overall, and the takedown of the Russians was just pure awesomeness. And someone got some use out of that giant train station they threw up next to Angel Stadium.

That really wasn't too good was it. Didn't Frank see Training Day? I did like his refusal to die though. Ray accepted and accommodated his death too easily. And all of a sudden, he and Ani were in love? And now, since she had her revelation, she is ready to be a mom? Yeah, the whole thing went sideways in a hurry. I really wanted to like this...but they gave me no choice at the end.
Hopefully next season will be better.

Frank going out the way he did was so weak and disappointing. Ray not stopping in a crowded public place, and then giving up so easily, made me actually not even care. I knew he was done as soon as he exited the freeway to see his kid, but I expected a blaze of glory for him after Frank went out with a wimper. Other than the Russians getting taken out in epic fashion, it was all just utterly depressing. They should have gone all the way and ended it with McAdams jumping off the boat in open water.
