All Things HORROR

Saw this...

...last night at Beyondfest @ the Mission Tiki Drive In. As a one time Catholic School girl, it resonated in an entirely different way with me than it did with my constant companions, SmytheKing And Kingsqueen. It's a short movie, but it doesn't feel like it simply because, while the air of dread hits with the opening, there is no indication what direction it will come from, and in what form until at least, a half hour in. And while I like movies that let your imagination carry on the conversation, the traumatic event that sets things in motion is teased as something over-the-top ridiculous, but not confirmed. So you aren't sure if the bizarre hints could even be close to actual events. But then, without spoiling anything...that might be what was intended. Arthouse horror, would play well with Hereditary.

Saw this one on Friday. Weird flick. Drive in surprisingly did it no justice. Gonna have to see again, because there was a lot of good to be had. But the Creature, while being very very clever, is really just an excuse to watch the main character go in and out of sobriety. Like I said, I'm gonna rent it after the 9th when it hits v.o.d. just to see it more cleanly.
