All Things HORROR

24Framespersecond.net - Aussie horror THE LOVED ONES hits the U.S this June

Great news for all you U.S gore fiends who are fans of unusual, quirky and shockingly bloody horror - Australian first time director Sean Byrne’s "Carrie"-meets-"Misery" flick The Loved Ones, is finally due for some theatrical releases in the U.S ,and the date to watch out for is June 1st! Details of which cities are lucky enough to get to see it first (plus there’s a tab to click to request further venues) are on the films official site.

About ****ing time!

I've gone on record on this one. First of all it's 5 or 6 years old. WTF? I need to rewatch it because my initial reaction was severe underwhelming frustration. It's not half as clever or groundbreaking as I was led to believe. It's pretty well telegraphed and not excessive in terms of violence...once again, it's an average movie that should have just come out years ago and it would be forgotten by now. Meanwhile I still wait for REVENANT, a far superior and just balls out different movie, that I saw at Screamfest 4(?) years ago to get a release. What's the holdup?

Chloe Grace Moretz in Talks for Zombie Film MAGGIE

Maggie deals with a zombie apocalypse in which the titular 16-year-old becomes infected. The story further deals with the unconditional love of a father for his daughter, as Maggie remains with the family over the six-month course of her transformation. Fittingly, The Walking Dead title/credits designer Henry Hobson will make his directorial debut on this feature. Moretz is in negotiations to play the title role while Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum) is in talks to play the father. Maggie plans to start production this September.

Oh hell...YES. Sign them up. I was re-watching KickAss the other night and Moretz is seriously good. She likes to do movies I want to see too. I hope she never does the 'child actor' route of sadness. And Paddy freaking Considine. And...that story, which already has me getting all weepy. I need to see this now.

The “Cabal Cut” Of ‘Nightbreed’ To Screen In Los Angeles June 10th! Check Out The Trailer! | | Bloody DisgustingBloody Disgusting

The “director’s cut” of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed has been a highly sought-after and highly intangible experience for horror fans ever since the film’s release over two decades ago. And while those seeking it out may not have crossed the finish line quite yet, there’s now a “Cabal Cut” which may be the closest we ever get to Barker’s original vision. And it’s playing LA’s New Beverly Cinema on June 10th, hosted by Days of the Dead.

“In 2009 Seraphim’s Mark Miller contacted Morgan Creek and found out that there may well be more to the Myth than anyone had thought. Two European encoded VHS tapes were discovered and sent to Phil and Sarah Stokes, who run Clive Barker’s website, Revelations. They viewed the tapes and saw what nobody had seen in almost 2 decades; additional Nightbreed footage. Phil and Sarah transferred the footage to DVD and, with Clive’s approval, announced to the world that missing footage for Clive’s film had been found. Inspired to see Clive’s original vision come to light, filmmaker Russell Cherrington, longtime friend of Clive Barker and Seraphim, took the DVD back to England and, working with editor Jimmi Johnson and Clive Barker’s original Script, created the new cut ofNightbreed composited from two the VHS sources and the original Warner Brothers DVD. The original cinema release of Nightbreed was fused with the workprint to create The Cabal Cut.”

eeeewwww Looks rather arty...and pretentious, while the original is so sleazy that it literally drips. No sir, I don't like it. And really??? Elijah Wood(while I like him) is about as threatening as a moth.

There will be those who will completely disagree with me on this film saying that it bored them to tears. It is a slow builder and apart from a few creepy scenes, I could see folks tuning out at the forty-five minute mark after quietly following this women with very little by way of event or excitement. Those who love splatter and big shockeroos of the SAW and FINAL DESTINATION variety will most definitely not find this film as impactful, but ENTRANCE isn’t about all of that. Those with a little bit of patience and appreciate their terrors slow-slithering will fall in love with this film. ENTRANCE is about creeping paranoia that something is wrong and the utter shock that those paranoid feelings are correct. Most like Polanski’s REPULSION, ENTRANCE allows us to get up close and personal with a lost soul and then punishes us for getting that close in the end.

Be assured, the ending is violent and shocking. I can only compare ENTRANCE to a slowly inflating balloon. As the helium rushes in, you feel the tension growing and know something bad is going to happen. You expect the eventual explosion, but instead of helium, when it does burst, the balloon is full of blood—splattering in your face and shocking the **** out of you. The final moments of this film burrowed into my soul, mainly because the directors so effectively put me in the room with our heroine. Through an unflinching camera, a likable protagonist, an overall sense of dread and paranoia and an ending that hits like an anvil, ENTRANCE is one of the best horror films I’ve seen all year.

Oh Adgy...this one sounds like it was made with you in mind. Sounds good to me too.

Indie slasher Entrance opens on IFC Midnight Cable VOD and Digital Outlets (SundanceNOW, iTunes, Amazon Streaming, XBOX Zune, Playstation Unlimited) this Friday, May 18th. It’s a deceptively quiet horror film starring Suziey Block as Suzy, a lonely young woman in Los Angeles going through a serious case of malaise. It’s almost a mumblecore From Dusk Till Dawn in that you might not even know it’s a slasher movie until you’re a good deal of the way through it. It’s also really good.

But don’t take my word for it. From BC’s review, “On a technical level with regards to its slasher elements, Entrance is a pretty great flick. There are a couple of earned jolts, some surprisingly good kills, and a slow burn creepiness not unlike The Strangers or Ils, not to mention the creative approach – our “Final Girl” is in every single frame of the film, which doesn’t allow for her slutty best friend to go off alone or even cutaways during the scare scenes. By design the slasher film is a fairly limited concept, so anytime I can walk away impressed by how the filmmakers handled their well-worn material on the directorial side of things, I am happy.”

Sean Bean And Tom Savini On Screen Together? It’ll Happen In ‘The 4th Reich’ | | Bloody DisgustingBloody Disgusting

So yeah, The 4th Reich sounds kind of crazy to me so far. It’ll see Sean Bean (pictured inside; “Game Of Thrones”, LOTR), special effects wizard/actor Tom Savini (“From Dusk Till Dawn”), and Craig Conway (The Descent) acting for director Shaun Robert Smith (The Forgotten Ground).

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Sean Bean has signed to star opposite an ensemble cast including Sean Pertwee, Tom Savini and Craig Conway in Shaun Robert Smith-directed WW2 action-horror film The 4th Reich. Bean, whose resume boasts high profile turns in “Game of Thrones” and ‘Lord of the Rings’, will play a charismatic British sergeant major in the film.”

The script, “details the story of a brigade of British soldiers sent into occupied mainland Europe who find themselves up against an enemy created by Nazi scientists as an all-powerful fighting force for what would be the 4th Reich.”

The movie was recently purchased by U.K. sale to eOne Entertainment. It is scheduled to shoot this summer and U.K. indie production banner Mann Made Films are currently recruiting more cast.

Sooooo Sean Bean, Tom Savini AND Sean Pertwee. And Nazi hijinks...SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
