While doing press for the upcoming release of Evil Dead, The Chin, aka Bruce Campbell, had some choice thoughts pertaining to a proper sequel to the original trilogy of films. Read on for the latest.
?The reception to this movie [Fede Alvarez's remake] has been pretty good so far so it encouraged Sam and I to go, ?Well crap, maybe we should dust the old chainsaw off. If this movie helps us make another Army of Darkness ? Army of Darkness 2 ? then so be it,? he tells Empire Online.
That being said, Army of Darkness actually has two endings, and Campbell would prefer to take up arms for the alternate one. ?I would think the post-apocalyptic [ending] because it gives great possibilities for an Omega Man movie and who he might be fighting against. It would be a very interesting world. But I?m fine either way. I?m sure Sam will concoct some ridiculous story and an outrageous journey so I don?t really care where it starts and ends. The fun thing is working again with Sam Raimi. That?s the only reason to do these incredibly difficult movies - [to] work for a guy who you really like working with and who you respect.?
The best thing heard the whole panel was that both Alvarez and Campbell hope to one day (after Army of Darkness 2 of course) combine both Evil Dead franchises with Ash and the new characters fighting Deadites together. That would kick so much ass! Evil Dead is out this Friday.
Though Wan planned to make a PG-13 movie, the ratings board came back with an R rating simply because the film was “too scary.” They cited no specific scenes that could be altered or removed, but also didn’t mess with Wan’s film, which the director was thankful for.
If you're looking for something a little different, I can't recommend Stitches enough; while it may not necessarily be reinventing the wheel or anything, everyone involved has gone above and beyond in delivering a truly inventive old-school horror/comedy that features some of the bloodiest and most crazy awesome kills I’ve seen in some time. If you're a fan of quirky and offbeat horror humor, put Stitches at the top of your rental list immediately; just a wonderful and surprising film all-around.
Peeps should just pass on the remake and host a pizza and beer party and watch the original, but no one listens to me!![]()
