There aren’t many, if any, precedents, but Eric Clapton’s 1991 song Tears in Heaven was written in response to the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, also from a fall. But where Clapton found some comfort in ideas of heavenly reunions and eventual peace, Cave finds no such salvation or solution. In fact, one of Skeleton Tree’s most powerful statements is its rejection of God and notions of easy healing, happy endings or even meaning.

I made it through to this one before losing it.

I tweeted that song, that is, Distant Sky, today. It's the song from the album that has connected with me the most so far. I have been listening to that album between things today. I'll have to set some time to listen to it in silence. A silence filled only with music.

But yeah, I have been listening to that album, and in true Orphy nature, when one of my favorite artists releases an album, I listen to said new album and a bunch of that artist's work.

It's a time to rejoice.
