All Things:MUSIC NEWS

So freaking sad.

On the plus side (maybe?), I've had quite a few people tell me over the past couple of days they've looked up the band having not heard of them and are enjoying the music.

I have heard that reaction myself. It's sad that such a feel good band will be associated with that event. No word on whether they are going to carry on at this point. I have to imagine the name might change too.

A Pastor Blames Paris Shooting Victims For Attending A ‘Death Metal’ Concert
http://uproxx.com/music/2015/11/death-metal-pastor/

A two-second Google search, or even a listen to any of their songs, will tell you that Eagles of Death Metal are not, in fact, a death metal band. It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, inspired by Josh Homme (who is not a queen, nor was he born in the stone age) calling Polish group Vader “the Eagles of death metal.” It’s Don Henley’s greatest contribution to music.

Unfortunately, Steven Anderson doesn’t have two seconds — he’s too busy writing hate speeches up his own ass. When the leader of the Faithful Word Baptist Church, who describe themselves as an “old-fashioned, independent, fundamental, King James Bible only, soul-winning Baptist church” (located in an Arizona strip mall), heard about what happened in Paris, his immediate reaction wasn’t to show compassion for the lives that were needlessly lost.

Instead, he came up with this:

“When you go to a concert of death metal, somebody might get killed! You know, you’re worshiping death! And then, all of a sudden, people start dying!… Well, you love death so much, you bought the ticket, you love worshiping Satan! Well, let’s have some of Satan’s religion come in and shoot you! (Via)

You know...you see the Pope, and his message of love and humanity...and just common sense and courtesy...and for a second, just for a second...you forget that most of the Jesus peddlers have subverted every possible good thing for their own propaganda. This man is no better than people who kill in the name of religion.

‘We Had To Jog Over Bodies’: Eagles Of Death Metal Describe Living Through The Paris Attacks
http://uproxx.com/music/2015/11/eagles-of-death-metal-vice-bataclan-paris-attacks/

Eagles Of Death Metal were the band at the center of the deadliest portion of the Paris terror attacks. Eighty-nine people were killed when attackers opened fire on their set at the Bataclan. The band gave an interview with VICE explaining what it was like to live through the event and describing the future of the band.

The interview begins with guitarist Eden Galindo describing the first shots, which he thought was the PA system cracking up, and goes through each band member’s experience in detail. Readers should know that the interview is pretty hard-to-watch.

It only took them twenty years to determine the merits of Deep Purple. Bang up job they're doing. Bands really need to stop showing up to this thing.

Agreed. Rumor is that Deep Purple members will show, not likely Ian Gillan and/or Blackmore. Jon Lord didn't live to see it(shameful). Mk 1 to Mk3 are the lineups being inducted, but there is a lot of hate there. Like Kiss, don't expect a musical performance, so kinda...what's the point?

Cheap Trick should bring a good time...maybe they can mend fences with Bun E.. I would imagine they will bring some friends to celebrate.

BUN E CARLOS WILL 'MAKE NICE' AT ROCK HALL INDUCTION
http://classicrock.teamrock.com/news/2015-12-23/bun-e-carlos-will-make-nice-at-rock-hall-induction

Former Cheap Trick drummer Bun E Carlos says he will "make nice" to ensure the band's 2016 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame goes smoothly.

Carlos hasn't performed with the band since 2010 and admits "me and the singer don't get along very good," but he'll do whatever it takes to ensure the ceremony in New York on April 8 is a day for them all to remember.

Carlos tells Rolling Stone: "I'm assuming everybody is going to make nice. Me too. I have no agenda here. It's such a highlight day in your career. You should try not to wreck it.

"I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be a gas. As I said, I have no revenge agenda. I won't be like, 'Let me set the record straight, people.' **** that."

While still technically a full member of Cheap Trick, Carlos had to sue the band for royalties. He says: "We just drew up a contract that said, 'I don't tour with the band, but I'm a full member of the band.'

"We've got all these corporations. The touring company said, 'If you quit touring, you lose your vote.' I wasn't going to let that happen. I'm a full member of the band. So we drew up a piece of paper, and a couple years later the cheques stopped coming. And then I had to sue them in federal court to get my money back. We did a settlement last spring and its all hunky dory. That's the short story."

Guitarist Rick Nielsen's son Daxx plays drums with Cheap Trick in Carlos' absence and the sticksman doesn't think that'll change. He adds: "I don't see it happening. Rick's kid got a gig here and dad loves that. I'm sure Rick would rather his kid gets paid than Rick supports his kid.

"Even besides that, any friendship we had went away when I had to file a federal lawsuit. That cost a bucket of ****ing money. Going after these guys wasn't pleasant. The friendship sort of frittered away there."

Is This Trailer More Evidence That The Original Guns N’ Roses Lineup Is Reuniting?
http://uproxx.com/music/2015/12/guns-n-roses-trailer-star-wars/

As 2016 draws ever closer, one question continues to persist: are Guns N’ Roses reuniting? Earlier this year, we found out that after years of animosity, frontman Axl Rose and guitarist Slash had finally buried the hatchet, leading fans to logically wonder if the original lineup was going to reconvene. Now, a new video airing at screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has allowed those rumors to blossom even further.

There’s not really much to the video; it’s just a 15-second clip of a raucous crowd rocking out while G N’ R plays “Welcome To The Jungle.” So, it’s hardly enough to confirm that the reunion is taking place, but it does make that question even more urgent than it was before. Equally adding fuel to the fire is the news we reported earlier this week that the band’s website has recently been updated to feature the classic logo, while the band’s Facebook page has been updated to show a cheering crowd. None of this definitively means that the original lineup is going to reconvene, but they sure seem to be hinting at it very strongly.

Slash officially left Guns N’ Roses into 1996 due to animosity with Rose. The band has seen several members shuffle in and out since then, and in 2008, released the long-awaited Chinese Democracy, with Rose the only original member to appear on the record.

Report: Guns N’ Roses Will Head For A Stadium Near You After Coachella Reunion
http://uproxx.com/music/guns-n-roses-reunion/

The Hollywood Reporter believes, thanks to the grace of their sources, that rock legends Guns N’ Roses will, indeed, reunite at Coachella in April 2016 following weeks of speculation, bringing Axl Rose and Slash together for the first time since 1993. It’s being called the ultimate Bucket Head freeze out (by me, anyway) and a shocking development that many had hoped for, but that few had actually expected. Keep in mind, of course, that we’re a long way to April, though the band isn’t merely looking at this as a one-off according to the same report.
