We have the Emerald City Con this weekend. Really ticked off that Glen/Steven Yuen panel was cancelled. One positive is we get Gina Torres/Zoe Washburn panel, which will be the only saving panel of the entire weekend ... Patrick Warburton may be good but Anthony Daniels/C-3PO ain't doing it for me ...

Yeah, we have Wondercon in a little over a week. And I wasn't too impressed with the lineup. Maybe Cons are on the backend of things...we will see at SDCC with Marvel staying home. Either someone steps up, or its all tv in Hall H.

Wow some pretty wicked good cosplay. Looks like a fun con.

Also, I got my SDCC hotel but sheesh did they screw it up this year. They still haven't charged my card and the lack of info from them is terrible.

Yeah the Hotelpocalypse turned out to be just that...

EDITORIAL: The San Diego Comic-Con General Hotel Sale Failed On Every Level – And Why That’s Not Acceptable

UPDATE: At 6:08PM PT on March 27, 2015, Comic-Con International issued this statement to us:
We’re obviously disappointed the hotel sale didn’t run as smoothly as we would have liked. Our attendees are very important to us and we have worked very hard to secure more room blocks and reduced rates at area hotels. We continue to strive to provide the best means to accommodate the growing number of people looking for lodging during the show. In fact, one of the major sticking points in our current negotiations to remain in San Diego are hotel rates. This incident has cast a shadow on our efforts but we are working with Travel Planners to ensure this type of situation does not occur again.

With the MLB all start game set for the same time as Comicon next year I do not have much hope for the future. We got lucky this year with Smytheking transferring over his superior booking to us. As much as I like that because it benefitted me this time, I also feel kind of wrong about it. Seems that it shoulda went back into the pool. But if I have learned one thing...you take the breaks when you get them.

Yeah it sucks, there were lots of people leftout. I got lucky in getting my first choice, embassy suites, but I'm rooming with my group of 7 so we got very lucky. AirBNB was our second option in case we didn't get a room. I think we might be seeing people not attend SDCC anymore if they keep jacking up the prices on badges and hotels, and still make it so hard to get in. I forgot about that baseball event. They need to finish those new hotels asap. It's just crazy seeing the rates for hotel during the con compared to any other time of the year.

And that's WITH the cooperation to keep the hikes to a minimum!!!!! But that is the hotel business. Demand determines rate. I get that. I just wish they weren't soooooo mercenary about it. And the Con folks really did blow it this year. Last year was almost uneventful as far as the hotels went. This year they truly screwed the pooch. And that is the crux of things...the Con organizers cannot cope with the demand. But if someone else took it over...who knows? Not a perfect system and every year there is the mad rush of holding your hat and seeing where the winds take you. It is almost as exciting as the actual event in a real sick way. So, the solution...move it elsewhere.
Yeah, imagine that. If they went to Vegas, oh sure...the hotels wouldn't bend you over there...no sir. RIGHT.
If it moved to LA it would be better for me...but I don't think this city is any better equipped to deal with it than San Diego is.
At least they have the experience on their side.
So, the devil you know...and all that. Not a perfect system by far.

Yeah it's ridiculous, and then on top of it all we still have to pay those damned fees the hotels have. I wonder myself what would happen if TP didn't work with them anymore, how crazy the prices would be. I keep seeing people say that they should move it to LV, but as you said the hotels there would be charging the same amount considering its LV.
I would love if it came to LA, but our environment just isn't the same and we don't have as much space I think. But yeah not a perfect system indeed. Even after all this jumbo screwup, I'm still excited to attend this year lol. Only time I ever actually go on vacation.
